The Venu is lovely to and warm and obviously very authentic especially being an Old Mill dating back 100,s of years. Tastefully modernised with a old feel. Very warm welcome from staff and made to feel at home. We had a great time and the staff were attentive, kind and happy to indulge our quirky party. The Evening menu was lovely but surprising not vast in its starters or mains choices, however that should not always be the case.....more is not a plumb line to make a judgement on the food, menu etc. The starters were well presented and we all had something different. Which served our tastes buds..the mushroom stuffed with goats cheese was very tasty but was only just warm to eat ...and the mushroom was not huge compared to the £8.95 ......the mains was a selection of different cuts of pork served with a selection of vegetables and a roasted fondant potatoe....(see foto) What I do need to say is the Pork selection was tender, well cooked and tasty and I could have done with two portions. (That isn't to say the portions were meager) they were just right but I could have easily ate 2 as it was so good....🤪 However the one upright half of a carrot and 2 baby broccoli stems and a half of a potatoe less than the size of my credit card that wasn't roasted was very disappointing. I knew the restaurant had a great reputation and the fine diner comes with cost and limited portions but I had to chuckle inside at the seasonal vegetables served with such succulent meats. I would definitely come again but the straw that broke the camel's back with a restaurant with such a great menu pleasant and helpful staff....and great food apart from my own personal observations was you had to pay for parking for the privilege of eating there. The prices you have to pay I do not feel (even if they incorporated parking into the cost of good, service etc) warranty the patron to pay to park the car and eat....just imagine if they did that at the Golden Arches!!!!🤣

We were so looking forward to trying this place out for the first time tonight Friday 10th Nov. We are very disappointed. The service was lovely. The atmosphere was great. The food was rubbish, seriously overpriced for what you get. We ordered olives and scallops for starters. The olives and bread were lovely. The scallops were slightly undercooked, a bit wet if you ask me and the linguine was too wet also. We ordered the special steak. I insisted on no fat. My steak was literally just fat. My husband’s was ok, my son and I couldn’t eat more than half. It was literally riddled with fatty tumours. Seriously disgusting. The roasted tomatoes were not roasted at all. They were just warm. I don’t know. Add a bit of olive oil and leave in the oven a little longer. The chips were fine. My husband enjoyed the chocolate mousse. My and my son’ s sticky toffee was ok but the custard is warmed up in microwave. It makes it lumpy with a thin coat on top. Not great. But most importantly the table was sticky all over. Use an actual sponge with actual soap and dry with a cloth. This is the only way it won’t be sticky! We paid £150 with no wine. We had a complimentary bottle with the steak special. We won’t go again. The food was not at all the standard it should be. Maybe it was a bad day. The place was busy but this is not for us. We like gourmet food and we thought that it was what we were going to get. If you want delicious food then this place is not the one. The manager and our waitress were lovely but that just wasn’t enough. Talk to the chef and don’t serve disgusting steak specials.

Had a lovely lunchtime meal here for my mums birthday, they even left a birthday card on the table which was a nice touch! Their 2 course bottomless prosecco lunch was great, kept topping up our glasses throughout the meal. Enjoyed the battered fish and chips for main course, lovely piece of fresh fish, only wish they'd put a few more chips on the plate. They had a fabulous choice of deserts, wanted all of them, the vanilla and raspberry cheesecake with clotted cream ice cream was delicious! All the food was presented well and you could tell the chef had great attention to detail. The renovation from the flour mill into a restaurant has been done very well, keeping original features such as wheels that have been highlighted nicely. Wasn't much of an atmosphere for lunchtime, I imagine it's better for dinner. The toilets need a mention, the female had birds singing while using it, with faux foliage on the ceiling and bird wallpaper, quirky environment! And apparently the male was a bond theme with the soundtrack playing while you're in there. Another nice touch was when the bill came in a small envelope with the words 'The Damage' written on it, which gave us a giggle at the end!

My husband and I went to the Mill at Botley last Wednesday evening13th of August . We had booked a table for 18.30. We arrived in time, and had to pay a small fee for parking. 1hour free and £1 for next hour, ample time for our 3 course meal. There were some instructions just on the left of the entrance to the restaurant. We were struggling as we are eldelies and handicapped, we can't stand too long as we have a lot of pain , we were asked to use an app.for the payment of the parking ticket. We started getting distressed and frustrated when a lady (like an angel) appeared and helped us to register our car, payed the fee and would not accept any cash in exchange. This, unsuspected gift made us very happy and relaxed. And the rest of the evening was also lovely and successful. We were made very welcome by the very kind "Maitre D" who cared for us all evening. We were allocated a table very closed to the entrance as I requested. We were served our drink very quickly. My husband ordered a Cider and I chose a glass of dry white wine, both were very refreshing and of good quality. We were offered an amuse bouche, smoked mackerel pate on a small brushed. We chose our starter and our main which was served promptly and were special and delicious. The desserts which followed did not disappoint. The staff was very kind and professional. All in all , the experience was satisfying and one to remember. So, many thanks to the lady who rescued us from the parking nightmare, and then thank you and kinds regards to all the personnel in the restaurant, not...
