I recently visited the Tesco Café in Bursledon for the first time since the new electronic kiosks were installed. Upon ordering, I attempted to scan my Clubcard (which is linked to my Tesco Credit Card), but the machine wouldn’t accept it. I politely asked the manager, who was serving at the time, about this issue.
To my surprise, she insisted that Clubcards linked to Tesco Credit Cards are issued by a different company and would not work at Tesco??? a statement that is simply incorrect. Not wanting to escalate things, I went downstairs to the customer service desk, where the staff were helpful and manually applied my Clubcard points without issue.
However, after returning to the café and sitting down with my wife and 2 yr old daughter to wait for my food, the situation took a very unexpected and inappropriate turn. The manager began loudly addressing me across the café, claiming she hadn’t said what I had heard. She then made a deeply unprofessional and frankly disturbing comment suggesting she would spit in my food. This behaviour was not only unacceptable but also made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
This experience has left a very negative impression, and I hope Tesco takes steps to address staff conduct and customer service standards in this café. I would have expected far better from a well established brand
In front of children and causing this amount of distress a formal complaint is definitely being made. Didn’t even get to eat my food because of all the aggro going on whilst trying to eat my appetite disappeared my honest opinion is it felt like being in jail or something and the people making the food with...
Read moreI am writing this review in response to 'Tom's' recent one star review.
I was present at the cafe on the day of the 'incident' and can confirm that not only was what he said categorically false, but the way he behaved was absolutely abhorrent and unacceptable in public.
Tom, who appeared to be having what could only be called a mental health meltdown, was given a solution to his problem by the manager who acted professionally the entire time but would not accept it. He continued to spew vitriol towards herself and other staff members, swearing and at one point making derogatory comments about a staff members appearance as his partner looked on, clearly embarrassed by the debacle.
Tom then allowed his young child to climb and play on the table, clearly confused as to his whereabouts, surely mistaking a food establishment for a crèche.
I would like to take this opportunity to commend the staff for their professional behaviour and empathise with them, as I'm sure it can be quite the challenge dealing with people of Tom's caliber.
Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, my jacket...
Read moreThe food was fine (though the jacket potato had almost no butter) but the service was absolutely appalling. The customer in front of me in the queue knew the two ladies behind the till so they stopped to have a leisurely chat, completely ignoring me and the other people in the queue who were waiting to order. After several minutes of them just chatting, one of the ladies turned to me and said "sorry, you're not in a hurry are you?" Not even in an apologetic way, more like in a "I'm going to carry on whatever" way. They then served me but continued to chat and mess around (throwing things at each other in a very unprofessional way for two middle-age ladies) and I don't even know if they served the person behind me as I walked away infuriated. I wouldn't have minded if they continued to chat WHILST serving me, and I don't mind them having a sociable time while they're at work, but holding up a whole queue until they've finished their conversation is just...
