Visited again and the food was ok again.
I went for the scallops which were nice and coated I think in bread crumbs which his the flavour.
Me and a Friend had the seafood pasta with chilli. However it was very hot and not marked as such. It also tasted like sweet chilli sauce has just been mixed in.
The pasta italwf was well cooked however.
My friend could only finish a third of his.
Desert was a crumble with nice fruit but to my taste not crunchy enough.
I would hope that one meal was taken off the bill but it wasn't.
The Bailey's cocktail was really good however.

Hi have visited again and again the the menu looks very good but the cooking is not as good as the menu looks.
I went for a starter of prawns with I think a leak gratin which was only ok. I would focus on having a great sauce with it. The lamb I was advised to go rare for the red to make sure it was rare enough and in this case it was well cooked. The desert was I think supposed to be like a baked Alaska with a meringue on top but the ice cream was wrapped in I think in marzipan. I couldn't finish it and neither did the person who was sharing it. I would replace with a Baked Alaska if they are making merengue anyway.
Service was good however and the bathroom was nicer this time.
The menu looks very good, however the food is only ok. The sauce on my lamb was very tasty however medium rare for me should have a bit of pink and was too on the rare side. Also the carbonara was slightly on the salty side. The starter with wrapped rice paper, coriander and prawns which was good but I was hoping it was hot but it wasn't. Food I would say was a 3, however I really didn't like the toilet cleanliness with yellow tape over the hot taps and stains on the sink hence it's a 2. The service however was very good and friendly. Would I go back - possibly but not if they haven't fixed the toilets. The building itself is very cosy but large at the same time could be a very nice pubs with...
Read moreDespite getting a glowing recommendation from my friend about this place I was constantly disappointed and certainly won't be returning. In fact it seems they try hard but sadly missed the mark through our whole meal.
On ordering a bottle of wine, I was asked "Are you sure?" Which seemed like a bizarre and strange question for the server to ask, perhaps he was surprised as generally no one buys a £50 bottle of wine in this pub? Who knows. An Amarone, it was decent if not spectacular and attracts a 2.5 times mark up on its shop bought equivalent.
Starters of bread and olives were ordered and dropped onto the table. It took some time to get the server back to find out where the olives were to which we were told that actually there were no olives and a reduction on the bill was promised, but not delivered on. We might have had something else, had they let us know on ordering, or on delivery of the plate.
The mains arrived and the beef roast was well cooked but the chef must have used a salami meat slice to achieve the incredible thinness to what was served and I was left with the feel of being severely shortchanged and hungry.
And so on to dessert and the black forest melting bomb, an eye catching and hopefully tasty treat to finish off. Sadly, the first attempt was sent back for failing to live up to the name by failing to do any melting and the second struggled to get half way through. I ate it but it wasn't the dream experience I had hoped for and experienced in other locations.
There's lots of work to do here both front and...
Read moreBooked an overnight stay in this hotel for the family via booking.com which have the option of paying for the room on check in which was great. Booked a family room for 4 of us, which had a double with a sofa bed for the kids. Check in was very straight forward, there was a pre check in via their website, then on arrival full check in. After 10pm there's a night entrance which is open 24/7 using a fob key for quick in and out, residually at our room was my the back exit. This place was one of the few hotels near a friend's wedding venue which has free onsite parking. The room was nice although the bed was a bit hard for my liking. As with most hotels there was tea, milk sugar, kettle, and I was able to get some peppermint tea on request. In the morning we had some breakfast before leaving. I had the vegetable full breakfast, my wife had the eggs Benedict, my daughter had cornflakes with croissant, toast and strawberry jam; and my son had the traditional breakfast. These were all cooked very well for us to enjoy. There was an added bonus of the seating having charging plugs available if you wanted to charge your phone or Rebecca's devices. As we only stayed one night we weren't able to sample any of the dinner or cocktails which had a good selection in the menu. If we come back to this area I would come back here as the atmosphere is very nice inside as well as the option to eat outside which we didn't use due to the rainy weather but with the great summer we've been having quite be great to eat and drink outside. Overall a very nice...
