Visited twice in 2 weeks and 2 different experiences.
My first visit was on a Thursday for their Steak Night deal. Our group was welcomed at the door, shown to our tables and the service was fantastic, walked us through the deal and gave us some fantastic suggestions for sides etc. All in all a really good experience and one I'd like to have again.
The second experience was far from our first experience. I'd booked up Mothers Day for my wife, son and I and paid the £30 deposit (£10pp).
On entering the venue we were once again welcomed warmly and shown to our table. It was busy, being Mothers Day but 10mins passed without anyone asking to take our drink orders so i popped up to the bar. One of the staff serving said were not taking orders as its too busy so 'just jump on the app', its easier that way. Not ideal as the lady who showed us to the table initially didn't mention that, she said someone would be with us shortly. I returned to the table, downloaded the app and started to order, however some of the items on the app were saying unavailable, even though it was only 1:30pm. I asked another member of the team who said sometimes the app isn't great !
So i continued to order food through the app but when it came to paying there was no option or mention of the £30 deposit i'd paid, so again a visit to the bar to ask how that would work. The lady i spoke to was very helpful and polite (as everyone was) but just said ignore the app and to order with her. At this stage we'd been sat down for nearly 30mins with a drink and no food ordered. So I went ahead and ordered the food and drink with her. I asked about the deposit and she said don't worry, pay at the end, the money will just come off. Perfect.
Drinks turned up around 5mins later and maybe 10mins later it was followed by the food.
1 x Fish & Chips 1 x Burger 1 x Roast Lamb
The food was really good, just like the Steak night, really nice quality food.
When it came to paying the bill at the bar, we had a few issues, the lady behind the bar (a different one) said there's no note of the deposit. I explained I'd spoken to a colleague and pointed her out. She came over and it was all sorted that the deposit would be removed. However, they only done £10, I explained to the waitress I'd paid £30, she explained the system wouldn't have done that. Thankfully I had an email to show confirmation the £30 had been paid. After a good 10mins of back and forth it was sorted out and the £30 was removed from the final bill.
All in all a nice place to go, good food, polite staff but it took the shine off what should have been a pretty easy and routine Mothers Day dinner. Also, found out that we should have been given a Mother's Day bottle of Gin, a poster in the ladies toilet but we didn't get that sadly.
Will most likely go back, we've not been put off 100% but it wasn't an experience we liked for what was a special day for us...
Read moreI’ve been wanting to come here for a few weeks since lockdown was eased. We came here as a family of four and sat outside in one of the booths. The booths are very designed with their own heating- we needed this on during our visit as it was a bit chilly.
The waitress we had was very inexperienced, but lovely, polite and tried to be as helpful as possible. We asked a few basic questions about the menu and she had to keep going back to check the answer. My husband joked that we’d ask her her name next and she’d have to go back and check 🤣. Seems as though her training was rushed as she has no knowledge of the dishes and the beers on tap.
We ordered two starters between us and a main meal each. We were a bit confused when two of the main meals arrived before the starter sharers. We questioned this and they said they had a mix up in the kitchen. We started tucking into the two mains which were nice but a bit on the cold side. The two starter sharers arrived with the other two mains ordered. Unfortunately these were a bit cold too but by this point we were hungry and didn’t want the food to be sent back. Also one main was the wrong dish and the waitress apologised and ordered the right item. She said to keep the wrong dish.
The nachos need a bit of work- soggy and as the dips were loaded on top - the cheese was hard and horrible. The rest of the food was a bit cold but tasty.
Despite all of this, we would go back as hopefully it’s just teething problems of having recently reopened. We also like supporting...
Read moreA good experience. My wife and I had been thinking about trying this pub for some time as it is fairly close to us and always looked busy with a good vibe coming out whenever we walked past. So we went there for a wedding anniversary dinner on Saturday. We booked one of the outside cabins, which was nice and (fairly) private, but also slightly claustrophobic with hard uncushioned bench seats. Bearable though. The food we had was generally of good quality and very tasty, but the main course we shared was a bit disappointing however. We chose the lamb cutlets, of which there were three, but they were not cooked very well, being bland tasting and pretty tough to cut and chew. Usually lamb cutlets are grilled such that the meat is slighy crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a lovely grilled flavour, but these seemed undercooked. Anyway, most of the rest seemed good. Looking at orders on other tables we felt it would have been best to stick with the usual pub-grub staples of either burgers or fish and chips, which is what we will order when we go the next time to allow them to impress us with their fayre... Also, check the bills as the automatic pricing system over-charged our two glasses of wine by quite a bit, so best to check carefully before paying. Overall though, the staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful, and corrected the pricing issue without question even though we only noticed after paying- so overall a...
