Sizzling — Restaurant in Elmbridge

What a lovely restaurant! Walked in yesterday without a reservation (although they are always busy) was very well looked after and got a table straight away! The very kind gentleman that served us treated us like a loyal customer even though we haven't been here in years. Two of us were eating and we were given out drink menus and food menus together, after being asked, which I liked. I went with a cobra and my partner had a coke to drink. Glasses were served with our drink and both glistened like the stars that night. We were then asked if/ how many poppadoms we would like, we got two for the table and it was more than enough (we usually get 10 to share on a takeway) with the gorgeous freshly made complements, mint sauce was exceptional, the mango chutney is the best I have ever tasted (not normally a fan), and the onion mix was extremely fresh and full of flavour. All together on the poppadom was a melt in th mouth experience you MUST TRY! We choose not to have a any starters and go straight in for a main, my partner got a korma and coconut rice, with a glaric and coriander naan. I went with the chicken tikka masala with pilu rice a chapati and we both had onion bajis on the side (we order 2 each and we got given 3 each, very very nice of them indeed). Both curries were exceptional and way beyond the gorgeous taste to what we remember, once again this is the beat curry house I have been too (I've been to quite a few good ones). I strongly recommend this curry house, for both takeaway and to eat in. There service is brilliant, the food is to die for and the price cannot be beaten....

Last night I placed an order for two lamb curries and meat samosa. A few minutes later the restaurant called me to say they ran out of lamb and asked whether I'd be OK to receive chicken instead. I reluctantly agreed, it was 9pm. This wouldn't really matter that much had they refunded me the difference in price between two dishes. They did not. They didn't even offer a complimentary "something" as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience. They sold their integrity for a couple of quid and taken me for a fool. In their response to my original review a few months back, they asked me to give them another chance. NO WAY! NEVER AGAIN! Sizzling, was it worth it?

Consistency is one of the most important attributes of any restaurant and this is where these guys FAIL miserably. The first time I ordered online, the second time I dined in the restaurant and after that I ordered online again. Suffice to say, next time I'll go somewhere else. The quality and quantity varies wildly and that's just not expected, nor is it acceptable, from any serious restaurant....

Been here four times in the last 12 months and it usually does the job. They are a good bunch and their service is attentive, but please can we not return to the 1970s attitude of just some cubes of meat in different sauces will do for the locals. I ordered a lamb jalfrezi and it wasn’t good at all it was sauce and chilli and 5 cubes of lamb. Just sauce and a load of chilli chucked in the sauce - No tomatoes, no peppers just loads of green chilli “chucked” in it. Sorry mate you’re gonna have to do better than meat in sauce we’ve all been there with the meat in sauce and chilli chucked in it. Please let’s not go back to 1970s style Anglo...
