I know there are lots of 5 star reviews about this restaurant and I can only put my experience down as a blip on their part but after receiving my order costing nearly £70 I was lets say very disappointed. I have eaten in most Indian restaurants or had deliveries over the past 25 years that I have lived in Telford and never has a delivery quite as bad as this. All 5 curries ordered tasted very bland, even my teenage son commented on his curry not tasting very nice even before I had mentioned anything !! The chips looked and tasted as though they had been sitting out all day and just re-heated for a few minutes before being put into a brown paper bag, I dont normally post bad reviews like this but I can honestly say there are so many good Indian restaurants in Telford to choose to have a good meal from and that A Jewel In The Crown is in the minority class, I just thought I would try a different Indian delivery for a change which back fired on me, Lesson learned stick to what you know is best...
Read moreOrdered a takeaway from here the first time this evening. I can’t say I enjoyed any of it. The only thing we ate was the popadoms and they was soggy or stale. The mint yogurt had a weird taste. The onion bhaji wasn’t appetising at all, they was tasteless with too much spice they was just a flat patte with a soggy middle.
The chicken garlic Balti’s we ordered was very blade with hardly any flavour and what flavour they did have wasn’t at all nice. Didn’t taste anything like a Balti
We ordered a garlic and cheese nann and a garlic and coriander. The cheese nann wasn’t great but the coriander nann was well over powered by coriander, and wasn’t nice one bit.
So all of the main food went straight into the bin as we just couldn’t eat it.

Read moreI had been craving a lamb curry all week so I decided to order from The Jewel and Crown. We ordered two starters Lamb and Chicken tikka also a lamb curry and rice. All pieces of lamb and chicken starter were cut in half and not full pieces of meat, the chicken was rubbery and the lamb was also very very chewy and smelt almost smokey. The lamb curry made me ill. The lamb smelt smokey and there was no flavour in the curry or mint sauce. On a good note the spice in the food was just right. The mint sauce needs tweaking as it needs to be sweeter and more flavoured. The man on the phone was also very polite and let me know when my order would...
