The Aramee has been a highly popular restaurant in Prudhoe for many years - and with very good reason. The food is consistently better than good and keenly priced. But when yu add in the sumptuously comfortable surroundings and genuinely friendly service, you're guaranteed a perfect dining out experience. I could describe last night's meal with my son in true food writer style. But I'll just say that our poppadom/multi dip starter and our chicken tikka biryani and chicken jalfrezi mains with a keema nan were absolutely excellent. If you haven't been to the Aramee before, go soon. If you have been before, go back soon. We will.

There's no other way of saying it but the takeaway dishes we received were terrible. Should I say one was really terrible and the other was just bad. It did look a little different from the vast majority of Indian takeaway curries I 'd had previously as there was no oil on top of the curry at all. I know sometimes there can be little and sometime a great deal, but with these two dishes there as nothing. I thought it was maybe an effort for a healthier version. We ordered a vindaloo and at first taste I thought they had sacrificed flavour for strength and tried to make it as hot as possible. Another taste and it soon became apparent that it was just awful and not a proper curry at all. Vindaloos can have a beautiful and very distinctive flavour, just as a madras can, but this tasted of nothing more than water and spice powder, and absolutely no taste of fresh ingredients. You could literally taste the chilli powder mixed with water, and that it had not even been cooked long enough for any chilli powder flavour to 'develop'. It really was disgusting and how this can be served to anybody is beyond me, whether the customer is experienced with Indian food or not. The chicken tika pathia was in a similar vein but not quite as bad. The chicken tika, as it was supposed to be, tasted nothing like chicken tika and had a very weird taste. The meal was packed up in the bags it came in and thrown into the bin. Appalling to call that a vindaloo...

Shocking on this occasion. We have been to this restaurant on quite a number of occasions over the years and it has been really good, 5 Star good in fact. However, on each of the last three occasions it seems to becoming very bad. My food was not good, we were brought a full tray of pickles etc when we had been specific about what we wanted from the tray on offer, as well as the wrong Naan with our main. We waited well over an hour for our main after we had finished pickles and poppadoms and we had almost got through the whole bottle of wine we had ordered to have with our meal. I was ill during the night with severe stomach cramps and I hadn't over eaten or had too much to drink. The restaurant was not that busy when we were there and I will be avoiding the Aramee from now on until such time as I hear it is back up to speed. It's such a shame as I have always liked the Aramee but I will not patronise a place that does not offer good quality food...

Food was fantastic, garlic with cheese naan was not on the menu, but they served it up for me on request. Unlike most Indian restaurants the desert menu was extensive, & my choice of ice cream based vanilla toffee was outstanding at just £4. They let us stay past closing, & served us a complimentary Sambuca each. The hot towels were a really nice touch & value for money was outstanding, given the cost of living crisis. Toilets were well maintained & clean, the only stars I've withdrawn were for atmosphere, nothing to do with the staff, a family run business, it was just a bit quiet when we went at nearly 10PM on a Friday night, but I was delighted we got a table after watching the Chelsa game, so hats off to this restaurant, fabulous food at 2019 prices, with incredibly friendly but unobtrusive staff. An easy 5 stars & one of the best Indian restaurants I've experienced in...
