We first came across Ashiyana when ordering a takeaway over a month ago... Since then I have ordered another 2 or 3 times, each time more impressed by the one before. One night I thought I would try the Tandoori Mixed Grill - a very tricky dish to deliver piping hot and still not dry! It was exquisite and a very generous portion for under a tenner! I enjoyed it with a freshly made Keema Nan (I just needed to try the keema nan after having sampled the plain and the garlic one! Peshwari next...).. Lamb Bhuna, lamb dansak, tandoori mixed grill, chana bhaji, saag bhaji are just the beginning! The ultimate treat was when we actually visited the restaurant. It looked freshly decorated, with a pleasant and modern ambience. After talking to the friendly and polite co-owner, I found out that the restaurant was under brand new ownership and management. We were so impressed with the food and the excellent customer care that we went there the following evening too! All dishes are cooked fresh and there is an impressive range of 'signature' dishes...
Read moreFrom the moment me and my partner entered this restaurant we felt a very warm welcome even though it was our first time here. The ambience and atmosphere was perfect. The chairs was comfortable (coming from someone who has back pains) and the tables nicely dressed in white linen. We got given our menus the and the waiter gave us popadums with an excellent selection of dips (try their tasty mint sauce it's different from most other Indian restaurants). Our drinks was prepared fresh and at our table within moments. We ordered king prawn puree, mixed grill, lamb biryani with dal and a side of aloo gobi. They didn't skimp on the portion sizes nor the amount of prawn/chicken/lamb. Everything tasted amazing and very fresh. As my partner finished her glass of mango lassi, the waiter had carefully brought over a glass of water and we didn't even have to ask (read my partners mind well). Very professional and attentive to their customers. Would...
Read moreThis restaurant has only let themselves down after two deliveries in the last few months arrived with the incorrect rice, clearly specified in the order... After waiting an hour for delivery, I had to drive to the restaurant to exchange the order and by the time I was finished, I had to reheat the entire order... Restaurants really do need to pay attention to additional/specific instructions mentioned in the order due to potential food allergies... It wasn't long ago that an indian restaurant owner got jailed after killing someone who had a nut allergy, which was specified in the additional requirements... Luckily, this isn't a case of an allergy, just a preference... The food at Ashiyana is good, as well as the price, but I really don't like being messed around so I won't be ordering from here again... Perfect example of how to lose regular, repeat...
