Bay Leaf - Chellaston — Restaurant in England

This has to be one of the worst curry houses ever. We ordered half tandoori chicken. Garlic chicken. Lamb rogan josh. Mushroom rice keema nan and garlic nan. How dissapointed can we be. Well to start we had to ring to complain about the state of the nans. Both were cold the size of a side plate and torn to shreds. The chips looked as if they had been fried 3 or for times before. The main was also luke warm. They sent us a fresh meal. This was worse if there was any way that could happen. Again the chips looked as if the oil they were fried in was old and dirty. As you will see in the pictures they was not fit to eat. The nans were both over cooked and crispy. The tandoori chicken was tasteless. The leg had little to no meat on it and looked liked the thigh had be shaved off. The garlic chicken had the appearance of process chicken from a.packet and half the taste. Then came the rogan josh. To start with the carton as you will see was swimming in oil to the point it was around a 5th off the container. The lamb was tough and grisley and had no taste of the sauce it was served in. The rice was not mushroom rice as anyone would expect it to be and was overcooked to the point it was claggy on the roof of my mouth. This was the first time we have used this takeaway and will not be doing so again. I would highly recommend going further down the road to its competition and sample their food. We have always had great tasting food from there however their nans do need attention also but the food is delicious. Avoid this takeaway at all costs. Last night we ordered via UberEats and due to an error, we were waiting 2hrs for our food. As soon as Bay Leaf realised there was an issue, they apologised sincerely, explained what happened, cooked us fresh food and sent a driver out to us straight away. Gave us a refund and even offered us 50% off our next order.

Turned around what could have been an incredibly annoying situation - issues happen and nobody can ever get things right all the time, but it’s how they’re dealt with and this was dealt with incredibly well. Got to give credit where it’s due when a business/restaurant places such importance on customer service. Thankyou!

First class for a midweek meal with friends. So brilliant to have a decent restaurant in Chellaston to be able to walk to. A pretty setting too, as it overlooks the pretty church of St. Peter in the centre of Chellaston. A warm welcome awaits you at Bay Leaf. The staff are friendly and have a great sense of humour. All our starters and mains were of excellent quality. We will be returning there many times in the future for sure !
