Bertram's Café — Restaurant in England

We decided to have breakfast on Father’s Day in the cafe nearest to our home. Our first visit there and we have been waiting OVER AN HOUR for our breakfast. We arrived at 10.10 and spend in the queue 15 min due to the fact that customers are waiting for the drinks to be put on their trays for them. Then long, over an hour ,wait for food. It is sad that this happened. One of the staff came to us saying’ I don’t know what happened’ and offered a complimentary drink. When food arrived staff did not say sorry for long wait, the staff did not offered cutlery or sauces etc. We still had to get it ourselves. It was a long and tiring morning as we are a family of 5 with baby and toddler. Our order was simple 3 full English breakfast. The food was of good quality. We particularly enjoyed the sausages. It is hard to appreciate a meal after such a long wait. Once we left , there was no one to say Good Bye, thank you from coming. No one asked is the food ok while we had our meal either. Service was ok, lady behind the counter was nice, My friend had a salmon and cream cheese sandwich which was very roughly made, the cream cheese was literally plonked in the middle of the bread, and it was falling apart, really unimpressed especially for the price, I asked for a " half heat" latte as I had had a tooth out and it was still really hot, although the guy did offer to put cold milk in it for me, but I just waited for it to cool down, I had a cream tea but had to cut it into tiny pieces, it was ok, just average, nothing to shout about, I can't say I'd recommend it sadly, or go back, which is a shame as it was quite busy, so I'd like to think it was...

My elderly parents like to go to Bertram's for lunch a couple of times a week, but the availability of food is ridiculous. Unless they are there by 1pm at the latest, there are literally no sandwiches or rolls left, or barely any to choose from. This cafe is very, very popular, yet clearly the food stock is lacking, or they just make a certain number of rolls and then you are left with nothing if you come too late. How can 1pm be too late for lunch?? Really stupid way to run a business as they are doing themselves out of trade. A deep shame as the overall food quality and service is good in nice...
