Update 10/03/2024 We visited yesterday for Mother’s Day. We arrived on time for our booking but our table wasn’t ready - this was clear from one of the waiting staff telling another young woman (the one with tattoos all over both forearms) that the table should have been ready for guests when they arrive. The lady apologised to us for this happening so we had to wait with a pram and two young children whilst the table was set. The lady with the tattoos cleaned and set up the table whilst we were waiting but she seemed to lack basic customer service or professionalism. Whilst putting the napkins out she literally threw one of them in my mums direction because she couldn’t reach - it would have been better to simply hand it to me instead of fling it in my mum’s direction. Food was delicious and although it was very busy I would say they coped well with timings. All other members of staff were so friendly and helpful except for this young lady with the tattoos on her arms (I wish I got her name but I didn’t). This young lady also processed payment and even though my husband said thank you she simply walked off without saying anything. This member of staff brought down the level of service whilst the others were great and working so hard to keep up with how busy it was. It is unfortunate that one person can create a bad impression when the others were lovely and food was great. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the food and the service of other members of staff but I wanted to mention the lack of professionalism and service from this one member of staff as I would think this isn’t the standard Swan and Bottle normally provides - which can be seen through all other members of staff and the service they provide.
24/12/2023 We went for a Christmas Eve lunch here and the food was very tasty. The only thing I would say made me give one less star on the service is that we pre-ordered and selected the option for a child’s Christmas meal - when we got to receiving the food, we were told their systems weren’t working and the pre-orders were messed up. This meant that they didn’t even have a meal ready for our daughter (almost 2 years old) so we had to order something off their regular menu and pay extra for this. Also, when we were ordering drinks from their festive menu - the waitress told us that most of the syrups weren’t available so we had to order something different. Apart from these points, everything else was lovely. Food, service from staff and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely...
Read moreWent here with my daughter as she is moving to Dubai. We had booked a table and when we arrived we asked if we could sit outside. The server said that's no problem as there was a table available outside. We asked for a tab but we were told we cant run a tab as we were sitting outside. As a result we couldn't order together as we didn't want to lose the outside table while we were in the bar ordering. I went in and ordered first and paid, came back and my daughter went straight in after me to order her food. My food came in a reasonable time but without the side I ordered. I was waiting to start eating my food as I thought my daughters food would follow shortly but it never came or either did my side dish. After about 40 minutes and I was finished my food eventually a member of staff came out to the garden collecting glasses and I called her over and complained. I was told that our food was ordered on separate tickets which I said that's because we were not allowed to run a tab. I was asked did I want the side order now which there was no point as I had finished my meal but I said I would like a refund for my side order. Eventually my daughters food came out but it spoiled our evening as I had finished my food 20 minutes before hand. The manager was then out in the garden and he was told by the member of staff about our complaint but he chose to ignore us and go back inside. I then went to the bar to order another drink and get the cost of the side order taken off the price of the drink. The manager moaned that he had to refund the whole meal and ring it in again as if it was my problem. He then charged me for the drink minus the cost of the side. He would not even consider giving us a complimentary drink for ruining our evening. Went back to my table and a member of staff came out with another meal for me that was what I had already had. I explained to her that I had already had it so she gave the meal to the table beside us who were obviously regular customers without any charge. I was astonished that they were happy to ruin our evening without even offering us a drink on the house but yet were giving free food to their regular customers. A very disappointing evening and there is obviously a lot of training needed with the staff on how to treat customers. I wont...
Read moreWe went on Saturday 15th for my Mum's Birthday dinner. Unfortunately it was just a hot mess. There is a new chef and seems to struggle a lot with the amount of food going out. Then there was a staff member who was ill so there's was ONE person on the floor.
STARTERS: My parents ordered the sharing platter. It's very expensive and really not worth the money paid. You get very small (and luke warm) pieces of squid. Then you get only TWO very small Lamb Koftas. The Korean chicken strips were a delight though. The bread well tasted like bread but went really great with the BBQ sauce on the chicken strips!
I ordered the Korean chicken strips on their own and they are very delicious but unfortunately this starter was the best thing about this meal.
MAINS: I ordered the mixed grill, oh what a bad decision that was! First of all I ordered my steak medium rare and I got it well done. They cooked me another one and it came out very rare, I could hear the cow! So the chef needs to be better at this, it seems as if the steak was on an extremely hot pan and cooked the outside a lot but not the inside. Then my piece of chicken was laughably small and extremely dry, the piece of gammon was tough and dry. The only non dry thing was the sausages but they were very cheap tasting and not worth the price tag.
My Dad ordered the Trio of Seafood. The fish skin was soggy not crispy like it should be. The scallops were laughably small, about 6 empty mussel shells. The dish was just ok but not worth the money at all.
My Mum ordered a steak, which obviously wasn't cooked to her liking. The steak sauce was good and the chips were decent, overall just an ok meal too.
The staff were nice but obviously completely rushed off their feet and really made the evening much more annoying.
CONCLUSION: Nice atmosphere, very warm and relaxed but overall the food just let it down and we felt like we were robbed. I would not have paid nearly as much as they were asking, not very happy. It could just be a bad night but we won't be...
