This used to be a great community Pub at the heart of Uxbridge student and alternative music nighlife. Now gentrified and gastronomified for the non existant office workers.
If you do park at The Crown and Treaty on this car park at any date or time you will be likely to get a parking fine. Your signage is deceiveing as the main BIG sign on entry says clearly PARKING FOR PERMIT HOLDERS and PUB PATRONS. This is all a driver would see on entry and as it is new parking system regulars and visitors would logically absorb this.
The small Orange signs are tiny and the print even smaller on them making them inevitably missed, ignored or unread at night in particular or in low light. The signs are too high ands the font too small while the insturction to register is hidden at the end of a sentence. In addition the pub signage to register your car does not say why or that it is for parking.
Also the Pub sign for parking is on a small chalkboard at the the bar and not at the front door so is easily missed. I was advised by the pub staff to email this address to have the penalty waived. The pub staff was quite rude and dismissve when i suggested they put a board at the front door and she admitted that she is giving out the cancellation of parking fine email regularly and often.
When i said you are going to lose customers because of this she just shrugged and indicated so whatand actually slammed the door shut as I calmly left. The huge Union Jack flying over the roof with a Crown indicates a kind of throwback to another age when pubs were mainly white...

Our story: We booked a table for two, upon arrival, shown to a table for six, it was a high table with stools, this not being suitable, we were moved to a smaller table near the door, it was not set at that point (we had no idea if it had been sanitised from the previous visit).
We also (noted that upon arrival) the main part of the pub looked empty, and yet we were seated in a busy part of the pub (COVID), we assumed the main pub, which was empty had been booked by others yet to arrive.
Also, our table was next to the fire door, which is used by people seeking to smoke, who leave the door open while they smoke, and alas we also got to enjoy their fumes.
Our food was just about average, they had no mash potatoes? (so a chef who can not make mash, or is it they have no chef at all just someone who assembles pre-made stuff)?
That said, the pie was nice, but the dauphinoise served in place of the mash looked like it was dumped on the plate from an upturned container of some kind and obviously not freshly made. The Moving Mountains burger was frankly bland, but the Mac and Cheese was fine.
We mentioned the empty seats in the main part of the pub to the waitress, who said they use the area we had been seated in for fine dining (we could find no evidence of "fine dinning" except the descriptions on the menu)...
Over all disappointed, except the staff who are pleasant as ever (not our first visit, maybe our last for a...
Read moreThis place has gone downhill…I used to like going to the Crown and Treaty as the quality of the food was good as was the drink selection. It’s always been a bit pricey, but for quality you can sometimes compromise.
After visiting for the first time in a while today, there was a noticeable dip in quality. The venue appears to be under new management and it shows. The best beers and ales were not available and the menu has changed so much now selling mostly Indian food. I am partial to Indian food so I ordered the chicken tikka. The food was distinctly average and not worth the price tag, also far too spicy (I’ve never know Tikka to be spicy).
To top it off, it’s very cold in the pub so be prepared to wrap up if you go there. When I went to wash my hands, there was no hot running water and even the hand dryer was blowing cold air. The toilets look like they need a good clean!
Service by the gentleman was ok, he was pleasant enough but the prices are astronomical for what you get! This is a real shame as The Crown and Treaty was always one of my favourite places to visit in Uxbridge. I used to love going for the Steak and Chips, which to also mention is no longer on the menu. I will not bother to...
