Decent enough local pub. Stopped for a couple of post cycling pints. Nowhere to store bikes other than outside on pavement and was not warm enough to sit out, but could see from window so was OK. Don’t think this is a bike crime hotspot anyway lol. £4.10 for a pint of local ale.

I have been to the black swan several times previously and have always found the staff, food and drink to be very good. The menu offers a reasonable range catering for most people's tastes and the bar has an ample range of drinks to include both real ales and lagers. In the daytime I have called in a couple of times for a coffee and to send a few business emails, and whilst the pub is mainly aimed at food I have always been welcomed and where a larger table can be spared I have been allowed to take the additional space for working on a laptop and making notes etc. The pub also has free WiFi for customers which is a handy service. Definitely...

We had a stew and dumplings and a steak and ale pie here today - both meals were great value, and the steak came in great hearty chunks. The gravy was about my only quibble, there wasn't anything "wrong" with it but it had gelatinous blobs (not meaty bits) that I could scoop off to the side of the plate. For dessert we shared a cheesecake, I'm not sure what sort it was but it looked like some sort of red berry fruit in the cheesecake itself, with sides of mandarin and passion fruit on the plate, and supplied with a jug of cream - very nice anyway. The staff were very laid back and friendly, the drinks good, and very...

As a Lancashire lad I can honestly recommend this rather "humble" in some respects place.. why? Because from the minute we walked in we were met with a smile and warm welcome. Great Timothy T ale, proper Brandy glass (,for The Fortunate One's Brandy, yes it does matter what glass its presented in). The food: Although some might sat basic, it was absolutely served fresh, piping hot,and more reasonably priced than most!. Top marks from this discerning Farnworth lad!..

Oh,and the staff were equally pleasant and obviously love...
