Had a meal here a few weeks back. We used to eat quite regularly at O'Joys and were looking forward to trying this new place. The food was good but not as good as O'Joys. But the real disappointment was the poor service. For some reason the waitress seemed to take a dislike to us and she struggled to hide it. I'm not too sure what we did wrong but we were made to feel very unwelcome. We were sat downstairs and after taking our drinks order she came back down soon afterwards. We assumed it was with our drinks but in fact she had two jugs of water and some glasses for two empty tables. She set them out very nicely on the empty tables and then disappeared. About 15 minutes later our drinks appeared. We then had to ask if we could have some water as there was none on our table. I'm sorry, but if you're going to prioritise empty tables over full ones then it really sends a terrible message to your paying customers. No one came to ask if we were ok at any point. The food took about 40 minutes to appear after ordering (with no apology). We had already ordered my daughter a dessert but after an hour spent being made to feel unwelcome we decided to cancel it (our plates were still sitting in front of us). There was a mix up when we asked to pay so the total was increased by a few pounds without explanation. When I questioned it I was told why it had happened (which was a legitimate mistake) and I ended up apologising for asking. When we left we looked to the staff to say goodbye and thank you but none of them made eye contact. A great shame as we used to visit O'Joys quite a bit. But for some reason we were not welcome here and will not be...
Read moreReally disappointed with Bombos sadly. The service was slow, although super friendly. We waited for ages to order drinks more than once. Food was also quite slow to come out but they were full and many tables waiting food. The food itself was poor. Very overpriced for portion size and quality. I had the kimchi rice which lacked flavour, the crispy beef which was chewy and a tiny portion, and the sushi rolls. The sushi rolls were ok but quite salty, although good portion of them. I have been before for cocktails and find them too sweet, most are fruity which is mainly the issue but this is more personal taste as my friends like them. On the plus side my wine was very reasonable. Because I don't like the cocktails and the food was quite bland and very poor value for money, I won't be returning. All my friends also said the same. With plenty of amazing eateries in Shrewsbury I think Bombos will need to up it's game to compete. Staff were very friendly (if not very...
Read moreFantastic place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Well worth a trip to experience a proper hearty breakfast/lunch/evening meal.
The staff are wonderful, very attentive and always wearing a smile on their faces. It has to be the best café/restaurant in Shrewsbury (in my opinion).
There is also a craft basement below the restaurant. It has a selection of local and international ales/beers/wines/gins. Characteristics are shown in this historic building, creating a great atmosphere to socialise in.
There is seating downstairs and upstairs. Plenty of room for big groups and small alike. Please take your time to visit this...
