Your votes took us to the Henry Tudor inn on Wyle Cop and you can truly feel the heritage surrounding one of Shrewsbury's iconic buildings with this latest revamp courtesy of @joulesbrewery. ⭐️4.6/5 Recommended👍🏻 Price 💸💸 As soon as you enter you will be transported back to the 15th century but with all the signature quirks throughout to tastefully enhance and give ode to the cultural heritage of Shropshire. With several unique spaces for dining and socialising including “The Hold" which draws its inspiration from Henry Tudor Inn's historical connection as Wyle Cop's Court House. The menu isn’t extensive but focuses on traditional, locally inspired comfort food. Fish & chip heaven. Flaky cod wrapped in Green Monkey crispy batter was served with skin on chips, sweet crushed garden peas and the best homemade tartar sauce, so good we had to ask for more! Slow cooked short rib of beef retained immense depth of flavour. Possibly a little fatty for some but could have just been unlucky with the cut. Accompanying creamy celeriac mash, confit carrot and kale all lovingly brought together with a silky bold beef jus. We were both pleasantly surprised with the standard of food and loved the re-furb. Henry Tudor Inn is set to be a must visit destination for the growing numbers visiting the Shrewsbury area and for us Salopians definitely a place you could while away the hours. The vibe that’s been created here is sure to appeal to many, go see for yourselves and let us know what you think. #theshropshirefoodies #Shrewsbury #shropshire #telford #foodies #foodblog #foodreview #restaurant #restaurantreviews #shropshirefood #foodbloggers

We hadn't been here for years and decided to treat ourselves to something a bit more special than usual The service was fab and the food was great I had been planning on a pie, had even already decided that I was going to have one regardless of the filling of the day. But it had celery as a main ingredient... Defeated, I went for the Wellington! It was a pricey dish, but when it arrived there was two good sized slices. The pastry was crisp and the meat pink, perfect Our other main was the cottage pie, which had been smartened up to a proper restaurant dish. Tasty! As the portions were generous, we shared a dessert. The baked Alaska was hands down, one of the best puds I've ever eaten. The portion size was quite big so it was ideal to share, it had a bit of everything. Pistachio cake, torched meringue, ice cream and finely diced fruit. It was a great way to finish off a lovely meal If I had to pick a fault somewhere, I would say the raviolo starter could have been hotter. But, the surprise egg yolk hidden inside made up for it Great place when you feel like treating yourself

We have eaten here in the past and it’s been ok, but today was terrible, we arrived slightly early for a 12 o’clock booking and we’re bluntly told they weren’t open despite the doors being open. The service was terrible, we kept having to get up and ask for things, the food was even served without any cutlery on the table. The biggest issue though was the food, it was really poor. The steak pie I had was dry and didn’t taste good, the triple cooked chips were like boiled potato wedges and the vegetarian wellington had an overpowering taste of taragon, my daughter was incorrectly served two portions of ice cream which both appeared on the bill despite assurances they wouldn’t then to cap it all off she found a hair in one! I can’t believe they get 4/5 star reviews, they must be fake, we won’t be bothering again.

Definitely highly recommended. Book a table before you go. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the atmosphere and menu immensely. The staff were knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks on offer. There was a separate vegetarian menu. Their website is really well done too. We had tempura prawn and chorizo starters - delicious. Pork belly and beef Wellington were amazing; served with yummy vegetables, mash etc. all beautifully presented. I’d love to go back! The only thing I’d warn peeps about is the uneven cobblestone walkway outside in the alley in front of restaurant - tread carefully. It’s very old and not particularly friendly to baby prams, wheelchairs or high heels, nor, I imagine, drunken patrons.

Second visit here and loved it both times. The first time we came here was at lunchtime on our minimoon just after our wedding last September. We loved it then and knew we had to come back to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. This time we came in the evening and was coincidentally sat at the same as the first visit. The waitress was hospitable and attentive. For starters we had the plaice and salmon fishcake and the chicken liver parfait. For mains we had the belly pork, roast potatoes and gravy; and sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce and chips. All the food was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. I also ordered a few of the cocktails off the menu which were delicious too.

Really quite disappointed with our meals, the roast chicken was okay but nothing special - it did come with a behemoth of sides (cauliflower cheese & veggies) but the fish option was very very disappointing. It flaked away as if it had been frozen, very dry, quite bland and the salad beneath drenched in olive oil - I honestly had to send it back but the staff were kind and took it off the bill. I was reassured the fish was freshly brought in the day before but in which case I'd recommend they change suppliers. The decor itself is worth dropping by if you're close and want to stop by for a drink. The high rating threw me off a bit as I had expected better.
