Botham's of Whitby ~ Enterprise Way Shop & Tea Room — Restaurant in England

I visited today to pick up a cake I ordered for my sons 5th birthday. To be met by a cake that not what so ever resembled a '5' | raised a concern with a member of staff about the cake stating I was unhappy with how it looked.

I was then met by the director of the site who approached me saying she didn't think there was anything wrong with it and she was happy with how the cake looked, however | still was not and as far as l'm concerned me the paying customers is in the right to be 100% happy with a service I have paid for. This led to her arguing with me in a store full of customers until she was blue in the face completely disregarding how I felt about the cake and how unhappy I was.

After much back and forth she offered to take the cake away and try and make it look better, which she also offered to deliver it once it was completed. I agreed to this as it was for a special occasion and I needed the cake. Within an hour the cake had been delivered and I was absolutely not happy with the state it was returned to me in having it being worse than the original cake. (Pictured)

From this I took the cake back to the store to speak to her again about the mess I was handed, she then proceeded to say she thought there was nothing wrong with it and started to laugh at me for being unhappy with what I had paid for and received. I'm completely disgusted that someone so high up in the company has zero customer service skills and can treat paying customers so disgracefully, I've used Bothams for many years for cakes of all occasions and never once had an issue.

I have been completely let down by this experience and will absolutely not be returning after the was I was treat today. She should be ashamed at the way she spoke to me in front of a shop full of people.

Visited this Bakery Shop today 6 November. I purchased a large amount of Various Packets Of Biscuits and Various Packaged Cakes. I also purchased Tea Bags. All had good sell by dates between March and May 2024. This was important as I am going to use them as Christmas presents. All the staff were very helpfull, knowledgeable and friendly. One lady even packaged them for me and helped me to carry them to my car. I was very appreciative of this. It was a pleasure to shop at Bothams Bakery Shop. I've been following Bothams for a while now. And when the opened the restaurant on Enterprise we had to visit. Well we have been today. And we weren't disappointed. We managed to get a table. In which we were lucky. We had coffee and scones which were delish. If you are going as a group I would advise you book. The food looked amazing. And fresh. We were served by a lovely young lady I think called Maya. And the lady that did our drinks was very friendly too. It won't be our last visit. We will see you fingers crossed in...
