Over from Australia, and after a long day of driving through the Northern Lake District, was desperately needing some food. Absolutely priced out of Ambleside and Grasmere, which in hindsight was a blessing in disguise. This lovely little village was on the way back to where I'm staying, and this bakery came up as a suggested place to eat. We ordered a pie, panini and sandwich, all of which were delicious. I would even go as far as saying that sandwich was one of the best I've ever had- extremely fresh and filling. Price was very very good (especially compared to some places up North). The coffee suited my simple tastes in coffee and the cafe setting is rustic, simple and clean. The staff were attentive and friendly. We walked out of there with bags of pasties and pastries. Even my other half who insists on meat with every meal enjoyed it last night with a salad and said "best quiche" he's ever had and that's over a meat version for him.
