Burghfield Spices — Restaurant in England

After putting our regular favourite Indian take away and delivery from baughurst on repeat dial at 6.30pm on Saturday, after trying 50 times to call, we gave up. And googled Indian delivery services near us. Burghfield spices popped up, so we thought we’d give them a try. Phone answered instantly. Order placed, and we waited.... The food delivered was correct to what we ordered, tasty, plentiful and lovely - so much, the four of us eating the food felt we ought to phone and compliment the chef and service, with the decision we need to eat in next time too! I always order an extra couple of dishes (and we really eat loads too, breads, 10 popadoms, pickles.... starters and mains) so that there is enough for another lunch or light dinner, and there is plenty left over for that! Well happy with the amount of food!!! Highly recommended - and we are fussy! Oh yes, and a complimentary bottle of house wine (which was also very drinkable) - as we placed a ‘big’ order (£60). We travelled 80 miles for this experience. What a shambles! We took a party of 13 for the Sunday Buffet, all looking forward to dining for the first time at Berkshire’s award winning Indian Restaurant 🤣 The staff were mostly ignorant to our presence and tried their hardest not to be helpful. No regular attendance to check our drinks requirements, no ability to remember, (twice) a request for jugs of water. No ability to deliver liqueur coffees that had been ordered, without another reminder. No ability to use a calculator and add the bill up correctly. The food, (outstandingly average), is almost immaterial. The staff service in a service industry, struggling to keep it’s head above water nationally, a sad representation of customer care. I don’t like being negative in a review, but My Mother’s 85th birthday celebration was totally spoilt by this experience. Needless to say 13 people will never return. The staff treated us like we were pests to them and needed to get in and out asap the room was disgusting we went in while the buffet was on and the buffet was through different doors into the pub! The food was cold and nearly always empty pots! Small room very short doors I am 5’7 and nearly hit my head! Would not recommend. We had to order separate food for me due to me being vegetarian as the options on the buffet consisted of “fried potato” so I had to pay for the buffet and a separate meal.
