Visited Chai & Chapati Luton on 02/04/2024. I was served by Rumi who was fantastic and very friendly. I ordered food and desserts to take away. As you can see from the uploaded pictures I ordered five food items and three desserts. The bill came to £71.55. I’ll rate the food individually:
Chicken Tikka Roll 7/10 (chicken tikka tasted nice, hardly any salad and the paratha was very oily)
Kebab Roll 1/10 (I didn’t like the taste of the lamb kebabs, hardly any salad or sauces, very dry, the paratha was very oily)
Chilli Paneer Roll 6/10 (paneer tasted nice, lacked sauces, no salad and was a bit spicy. Paratha was very oily)
Papri Chaat 2/10 (my favourite foods are Indian Street Foods but sadly extremely disappointed with this papri chaat. Lacked any flavour or taste)
Veg Samosa Chaat 1/10 (this has to be the worst samosa chaat I’ve had. The samosa was just full of potatoes no other veg, horrible taste to chaat and again lacked any flavour. Very disappointed)
Tres Leche Cake (Milk Cake) 10/10 (OMG, I was transported to heaven. Wow what a cake, the cake was amazing and so was the milk sauce. Just delicious. Best milk cake I’ve ever had)
Gajar Ka Halwa (Carrot Sweet Dessert) 9/10 (Amazing, tasted really nice and not overly sweet. The whippy ice cream tasted devine with the gajar ka halwa. Close to one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend this dessert)
Rasmalai (Sweet sponge ball with clotted cream sauce) 9/10 (Again amazing dessert, comes with x3 small sponge balls which were so soft and tasted very nice, cream sauce was also very nice. Definitely recommend this dessert)
Overall the customer service was amazing 10/10, thank you Rumi.
Food is way overpriced. Portions are small especially the desserts. Over £71 is just a rip off near enough, considering your portions are not big at all especially the Gajar Ka Halwa and the Rasmalai.
Me and my family did not like the food here however the desserts were out of this world and just amazing.
I will definitely visit again but only to buy the desserts.
Four stars due to the good customer service and amazing desserts otherwise would have...
Read moreMy recent visit to the Chai and Chapati restaurant left me with mixed feelings, but overall, it was an enjoyable and satisfying experience.
Let's start with the highlights! The Chana Chat was an absolute delight! Bursting with flavors and spices, it was a perfect blend of tangy and savory. Each bite was a journey of taste that left my taste buds craving for more.
However, I must admit that the Chana and Halwa were a bit disappointing, but soft and perfectly sized puris was nearly perfect. The taste chana and Halwa rather mediocre, lacking the depth of flavors that I had hoped for. While they weren't terrible, they didn't quite live up to the high expectations set by the Chana Chat and puris.
Even though the Kashmiri chai was loaded with dry fruit that I had never encountered from another service provider, it didn't taste like authentic Kashmiri tea.
On the brighter side, the restaurant's ambiance is fantastic! It creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy some delicious snacks. The decor is charming, and the overall setup is comfortable and welcoming.
The shining star of this place, without a doubt, is the customer service. The staff was fabulous and attentive, making sure all our needs were met promptly. Not only were they friendly, but the service was also impressively fast, ensuring that we didn't have to wait long before digging into our treats.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a cozy spot to savor some delicious snacks and enjoy...
Read moreWe were making our way back to London when my sister pleaded “let’s have some chai for the journey, we don’t want to fall asleep at the wheel!” and suddenly all of us were reminded that we hadn’t had dinner after a long day of travelling. We couldn’t decide out of the many choices down the Luton high streets, however… Chai & Chapati stood out amongst the rest, bright and beautiful. As we entered, we stood unsure of what our tummies wanted, what are we feeling? Who is paying? Who is sharing? We all craved different things. My siblings settled on smash burgers that surprisingly came with masala chips on the side, whereas my mum and myself ordered the karak chai with a ferrero rocher cheesecake. That’s when Prebima came through and gave us a lovely window seat upstairs, at Table 15! She ensured we got our food on time, ensured we had everything we needed and gave us lovely service. She actually made effort to talk to us, she had a warm personality and overall outstanding service! So this is a thanks to her :) My family and I will definitely come by again whenever we’re in Luton! The cheesecake was the perfect balance of sweetness, with a good biscuit base, and my mum and I loved the karak chai, so tasty and the colour on it was just right 😍 My siblings devoured the burgers, and I took a sneaky bite of a masala chip and it did not disappoint! As new customers of Chai & Chapati, we thank the staff (especially Prebima) for their lovely service on such a busy night and thanks for the...
