Costa Coffee — Restaurant in England

I wanted to post about the poor service I received at Scunthorpe Retail Park Costa yesterday. I went in with my daughter, son in law & baby granddaughter at just gone 3pm.

We put in our order to be told its take away only, there were other people sat at tables enjoying their coffees so we asked why, to which we got shrug of shoulders from the 2 ladies that were serving and a we don't know you'll have to ask the manager, who was at the back of the store cleaning. The manager kept his head down and did not acknowledge us, and the staff did not offer to get him.

We did order some drinks, 3x frappes, I asked for 1 without coffee.

When we got outside and tasted our drinks the other 2 did not have coffee, so my daughter took them back in, the attitude of the lady serving was very off hand, she made new drinks but when they were done she just banged them down and did not say a word.

The service was disgraceful we had gone in to sit down as I have disabilities and need to sit down and take medication and the baby needed feeding, I would have understood if it was close to closingtime, but there was an hour and half left.

Me and my partner came in at 5 pm on Friday 15th March, we ordered a few things but then said to put it in take out things even though we were eating in so we could help out the staff cleaning up … so we thought, then Niki was very rude and cold towards us saying no we wouldn’t help whatever we did and then when we asked where we could sit where she hasn’t cleaned yet, she gave a snotty remark saying “everywhere has been cleaned and just sit anywhere” with a bad attitude, leaving us feeling unwelcome and rather annoyed and guilty for coming in to use their services. If I could rate the services a 0 I definitely would. Definitely won’t be coming back here again and that member of staff definitely needs retraining in customer service, I feel sorry for the next customer that comes face to face with her, not someone who I would like on my team if I worked there. Poor experience, we were with some disabled diners, who used a shopping trolley as a walking aid. Simon told us to move the trolley from the cafe, then he instructed a junior staff member to remove the trolley from the corridor to the toilet. When we asked why he had done this, he became very argumentative and said they should not be left on the corridor. As long as tescos has been opened shoppers have left trolleys there, and since he did not give instructions for all the trolleys to be moved, it was pointed out to him that this was discrimination. He then proceeded to tell all the other diners what had been said, insinuating that we were being unreasonable. There were prams, wheelchsirs, pushchairs and other shopping trolleys by tables causing more obstruction than our one trolley in the corridor so in moving ours, which is essential for safety was certainly discrimination.
