Warren Lodge — Restaurant in England

We visited this newly decorated establishment today at 11.45 am to celebrate my birthday. It was refurbished recently and re opened 13th June. We had avoided this establishment because we always had a bad slow service. Today unfortunately was the same slow standard, we waited nearly 40 minutes for our meals and I had to asked a staff member if our meals were ready. We over heard an elderly couple say that they couldn’t have a cup of tea because the machine was broken and there was no kettle, they left to find somewhere else to have a drink. We also noted that the ladies toilet was out of use and had to use the other end. To my discust these toilets were filthy, dirty toilet pans, wonky toilet seats, toilet rolls placed on sanitary bins, dust and muck over the floors, filled holes in the toilet cubicle to a very poor standard and a radiator on full in the corridor even with the outside heat being in the high 20’s. It’s such a shame that although it had been refurbished it’s been done to a poor standard. My husband said the same about the gents toilets. First and last time we will be going there. Ordered food at our table and it took a good 35 minutes for starters to come, we ordered the Potato Skins Sharer which when they arrived were missing the chopped chives as described on the menu and were served to us on a misshapen and bent baking tray with no plates and knives and forks so we had to cut and eat our food off of a wobbly old baking tray?!

Servers were walking passed and the empty baking tray sat there for another 40 minutes when they finally came to collect it they asked how our food was and we said it was okay minus the baking tray and the server wasn’t even bothered he just took it and walked off.

Mains came out, I had the Signature burger which was dry and burnt, the onion rings were soggy and the chips were also dry, my friend had the mixed grill and the steak was chewy and medium rare on the inside but burnt and dry on the outside how does that even happen? Chips dry again and just overall disappointing and left feeling underwhelmed and quite sick actually.

Went here for my sister's birthday and I doubt I'll be returning any time soon. My sister loves it here and so we frequently go for her birthday and other occasions where she chooses where to go. We had to wait over an hour for food. It seems to be due to a massive group who ordered food (after us) but they all received their food at least 25 minutes before we did. When we eventually got our food, My steak was well done and looked like it had been sat on the side for the whole hour. I informed the waiter who said he'll take it back and get a fresh one cooked for me. By the time my food came back, everyone else had finished their food. It was also clear that instead of just doing a whole new meal, they just cooked a new steak and left everything else on the plate so by the time I got it back, it was cold. I was far too hungry to have to wait another 20 minutes or so to get some fresh chips and mushrooms. Definitely needs better organisation skills, which should speed up waiting times.
