Costa Coffee — Restaurant in England

Oh dear... ...where do I start. I have visited this Costa franchise twice this week. On both occasions the place was dead when myself and my daughter walked in . No table service - take away only , the staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming and they were all sitting about at the back of the shop chatting amongst themselves. They decided that it was more important to finish off whatever they were all chatting about and took their time before coming to serve us. They were not wearing any masks and one of them was sitting perched on top of a table - so not very hygienic all round. Apparently this Costa franchise have decided to charge customers the VAT regardless that it is take away and despite the fact that the government has waived this VAT charge during the pandemic , so customers are being ripped off. This place was in sharp depressing contrast to the new vibrant Costa franchise at the Bridgwater retaill park where despite the pandemic , the staff there are efficient , friendly and have a steady stream of customers Q' ing at their door. I visite most days They are also passing their VAT savings onto their customers and are proudly advertising this fact. So Bravo Bridgwater Costa franchise . I'd suggest that the Burnham Costa staff take some inspiration and lessons from their counterparts at Bridgwater and get their finger out otherwise they are going to out of jobs soon and on Universal credit. They should be thankful they have jobs when many do not . I reckon this place will be closing down soon. I wont be going back...

The worst experience as I was overcharged on 2 instances. The scam is they always charge for the large size even when u order small size takeaway. The first time I did not notice until I got back home and checked my SMS alerts. Second time when I questioned the lady at the till who was the same one that it was a small size and a reusable cup she was quite arrogant as her act was caught, she brushed away saying there was a queue. This is not the best Costa coffee shop out there. The choice of food and drinks seems noticeably limited. Although there's a lot of room inside (compared to some other branches) the atmosphere is rather lacklustre. On top of that the service I've been receiving here recently was unfortunately cold or gruff, or simply unprofessional.
