Beautiful location but a lot of things to be improved upon. For a restaurant that serves sandwiches, pizza & chips as the lunch time offering the amount of things that you didnt have at opening time was hugely disappointing. No basil, no mayonnaise, no vinegar, no cheddar cheese!!
Come on guys these are your bare basic ingredients & condiments.
What i couldn't wrap my head round is your a few metres away from a local shop. Worst case scenario you do a last minute supermarket dash when you realise things are missing? Maybe before you open daily try running a full stock check??
THE CONDIMENTS was another issue VINEGAR GATE!! Firstly we were told by the waitress that you'd ran out of vinegar, then it was announced by another member of staff that you didnt stock vinegar for customer use. Very confusing messages from every direction. Chips without vinegar is like strawberries without cream! Dry, dull & uninteresting. Before you roll your eyes. I appreciate that a Michelin star restaurant may not serve ketchup or mayo but a beach side cafè serving chips 100% needs to offer or have vinegar???
THE FOOD. All 3 pizzas were sloppy & extremely undercooked. They were swimming in base sauce! My pizza had so much red onion marmalade slapped all over it that it was a sticky wet mess! Totally over powering & unappetising, it made me feel quite sick - I ate a quarter of my £13 pizza before I gave up convincing myself that it would be okay.
THE VENUE. No umbrellas on any of your tables! My poor boy cooked in the heat of the day as did other dining guests. We were told that they were on order. How could there be no umbrellas...sun, rain or wind your guest's need protection for their dining experience. If the restaurant was newly opened I may be able to forgive you, however this was not the case as your a fully established cafè. We had to leave our table after 20 mins as the heat from the sun was stifling, we managed to find a shady nook near your entrance point.
To say I'm disappointed by my experience would be an...
Read moreVisited twice during an Easter holiday break - once for a cuppa on (sunny) Easter Monday, and again on the Friday, which was a colder rainier day! Able to get seats both days (inside on both occasions). Cuppa and coffee were great - a big mug of tea with oat milk, and a flat white coffee. Paid something like £6, which is fair. Drinks were lovely, views are incredible! On the last day of our holiday, we decided to walk to Cove Café, enjoy a couple of drinks and get some food - such a good decision! We arrived just after noon, ordered a couple of rum and coke (I recommend "King of Prussia" if you want something smooth and easygoing), and enjoyed the views. Then ordered the burger (burger, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato) and chips, and the mezze platter (flatbreads, olives, hummus, baba ganoush and a third that we weren't quite sure what it was, but it was delicious!) Still had some room left, so had the pannacotta for dessert. Menu changes regularly. Staff are friendly. Views are spectacular! Our new favourite local café near to where we...
Read moreIt's an amazing conveinant cafe located only a few steps from hayle beach (literally) and about 2 minutes from Haven. The price of their brownie is reasonable considering the size and richness, easily shareable between 2 people. The coffee however at £3 I find a little bit to pricey for a white americano. I would be more content if they instilled a 25p bring a reusable cup scheme cup. The deck is spacious and inviting with marvellous views of the hayle beach. Inside is warm and cosy with the hustle and bustle of staff. As for food? I'd say its expensive but reasonable given for a simple crab sandwich in St ives can he £14.95 at most!
As for my experience? I had an amazing brownie, yummy coffee but unfortunately it came luke warm. I will try again hopefully tomorrow. As they were busy. But overall? It's definitely a worth while visit and certainly somewhere to chime your money at. Thankyou cove cafe for a memorable experience and your lovely smiles. We may appear again just to have...
