We visited the coffee shop today after our baby rhyme-time class at the village library… we go to the class every Wednesday morning and were looking forward to making “breakfast after rhyme time” a regular thing. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the cafe (there were 4 of us with babies in prams) we were greeted with what can only be described as frustration. Very unwelcoming. We asked if we could push 2 of the tables together so we could sit together and the lady agreed (albeit reluctantly) and let us struggle to move the tables with the babies. When we arrived the cafe was very quiet so we didn’t think this would be an issue and we certainly didn’t want to be an inconvenience. We ordered our food and the lady asked us if we could move our prams as they were “in the way”. We sat in the corner out the way (as best as possible) and had tried to moved them as conveniently as possible to ensure they weren’t in the way of any other tables etc. and there was easy access to the till as we were conscious we didn’t want to get in the way, but obviously this is difficult when you have babies and prams. We explained that we couldn’t move the prams out the way as our babies were asleep in them so we wanted them near us so we could keep an eye on them. This response seemed to frustrate the lady. As soon as we had finished eating, the same lady asked us if she could have one of our tables back, despite the fact we were still drinking our teas and coffees. She said she needed the table as she had another customer that needed to sit down at a table. We then had to sit with no table to finish drinking our drinks, which we thought was rude. I have never been somewhere before where I have been asked to “have a table back” when I haven’t finished. The particular lady made us feel very unwelcome and as if we were a complete inconvenience for having babies in pushchairs and she was clearly keen to get rid of us as soon as possible to free up space. I appreciate that by the time we were leaving, the cafe did get busy and was crowded but when we arrived (before everyone else), the cafe was quiet and we positioned ourselves as best as we could to be courteous to others, but it couldn’t be helped that we had babies and prams. Very poor customer service which is such a shame as we are all local and from the village and were planning on making this a weekly thing but we won’t be returning as we were all made to feel very unwelcome. The 2 younger girls in the cafe were, however, very friendly and helpful. Sadly, the food was very...
Read moreOn arriving the place looked nice. 2 other customers present. The two young girls were really friendly. The place itself looks modern. Ordered a coke, coffee and two cream teas. At the til they passed a refrigerated coke can in a boiling hot glass I assume straight out dish washer. Asked for colder glass. Warm glass then given, no ice provided. (Not good) While sat at table I realised that my foot was in a melted butter sachet. Gross!!Kicked that away then 5 minutes later my son started laughing at me. I noticed I was skidding in what looked like green sick all over the floor. My shoes were covered. Moved table. Waitresses dealt with this nicely and they were apologetic. Then cream tea came. For two people it was all on one plate. Usually when you have a cream tea you eat them in separates ie two pieces. While here you can’t do that because they don’t provide you with enough cream. My wife requested if we could have some more cream and she was told, that’s enough for two people and she said can you do without ok! We go for a coffee with cream tea’s literally all the time and never had a problem where we dont have enough to spread on the scones. The actual homemade scones were 10/10 Honestly such a shame we had a bad experience here as we...
Read moreVisited last weekend with my partner and had 2 ham and cheese toasties, and 2 mugs of tea. £19 it cost us! NINETEEN POUNDS STERLING. The toasties didn't even use fresh bread from the bakery nextdoor, but instead coop sliced bread - I can only presume the fillings were similarly sourced.
Regrettably, I noticed after we had settled the bill that a non-toasted sandwich was £2 cheaper than toasted - I didn't realise running a grill was so expensive these days...
I won't return. For £9.50 I could get a full english and a pot of tea in practically any other café. In-fact I write this very review looking at a different Bristol café who offer a extra large breakfast with tea/coffee...
