Dodona Mediterranean Grill & Pizzeria — Restaurant in England

I've visited Barrow with my partner, we have ordered twice from Dodona. On entry we were greeted by very friendly staff, who offered us a lot of information about their dishes and where their ingredients come from, and recommended few things that were amazing. He has also recommended few places for us to see that otherwise we wouldn't have visited. I've had their pepperoni pizza, sweet and chilli chicken pizza, both times spot on. Pepperoni isn't your typical Tesco's cheapest, like everywhere else. It is properly made with a little spice to it. Dough tasted great, full of flavour and crust is nice and soft too. They clearly pay attention and care to their ingredients and cooking. My partner had steak kebab and Mediterranean chicken. Steak kebab was nice and soft, well marinated and cooked same goes for chicken, well prepared and marinated which gave very nice flavour, both came with a choice of sides, partner had rice and salad, which were really tasty as well. We ordered the mixed gyros plates with rice and salad from DODONA for delivery whilst staying locally for tea this evening and the food arrived bang on time and piping hot despite us being around 5 miles from the store.

Both the chicken and pork gyros were tasty (although as they are both white meats it was a bit difficult to tell which was which), the salad fresh and if anything the meals were larger than expected with lots of meat in particular, so good value at £9.95 each.

The only slight down side were the sauces. We ordered these additionally as it wasn't clear via the app (barroweats) if they came with any as no option was given. The rice sauce didn't really taste of anything although not offensive and the chilli sauce was alright but if this was homemade it tasted more mass produced and bought in. The homemade roasted garlic sauce though was really nice.

With some tweaks to the sauces though and the option of adding them in store prior to collection or delivery DODONA would definitely score 5* and we would definitely order...

The pin location as driven by Google maps isn't the best. If you were walking there as i did, from behind the building, you'd be standing in front of a different (closed) establishment, still I encourage you to keep walking until you get to the corner and you'll run right into it. Once you get inside, it is well lit, clean, and quiet. I'm not sure if it's because we went on a Friday night and all the patrons were elsewhere but it was pretty empty. But the regulars that passed through raved about the food. You do have to order at the counter and then sit back down to be served, not sure if that was a one off due to staffing or regular practice. Not a big deal. I liked the decor, and the beautiful seats, just didn't understand it. May be a bit of personal ignorance to the theme, but with no music or easily identifiable lines to the culture, somethings felt misplaced. The food was plentiful and delicious.
