Enjoy some Indian and Persian food at Ivory IndoPersian
Hidden away on the edge of Stockport, Ivory IndoPersian provides a mixture of Indian and Persian food. Each type of cuisine has its own chef, so make sure you order off the menu that you prefer - donāt expect your asian spices on the Persian dishes. It was really busy when we visited, and at full capacity it may feel a little cramped. Donāt let that deter you from trying it out though.
The Indian dishes were; \Pani Puri [£3.50] - This was spicy and yummy, with mashed potatoes inside. The tamarind sauce was really tasty \Ivory Indian Special [For 2 £30.00] - Big, juicy, crunchy prawns just the way we like it and with a proper tandoori taste. The meaty lamb chops were done exactly how you want it \Achari [£12.90] - This was such a good recommendation from one of the owners. Sweet yet spicy and filled with a mixture of spices - such a good lamb curry
The Persian dishes were; \Mix Mezze [Ā£7.50] - Included the cucumber yoghurt, a mixed salad, hummus and yoghurt. The cucumber yoghurt was refreshing, the yoghurt tasted like plain, greek yoghurt - think it was meant to be garlic and shallots but this didnāt come through. The indian naan bread that came with it was nice, but a Persian flatter bread would have been better \Ivory Persian Special [For 2 Ā£37.00] - Same as the indian special, the lamb chops were pure meat! The chicken was juicy, the flat kebab a little dry and the other kobedas cooked nicely \Zereshk Polow & Chicken [Ā£12.90] - A sweet taste, quite like rose and saffron providing that unusuality. A simple, unique dish that was really nice
The sweetness for the end consisted of the list below. We were so full by this point that they gave us little tasters so we could see what they were like; \Gulab Jamun [Ā£5] - Pure yum but imagine with a bit of ice cream, this would have been heavenly. The cardamom wasnāt overpowering at all, which was nice L\emon Cheesecake [Ā£5.60] - A tangy, refreshing hit \Baklava [Ā£7] - Pure sweet, syrupy baklava
Weāll be back to try some more of the Persian goodies

Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust a bad experience. The decor is falling off the front of the building, there's nobody to greet you, the bar has no beers on tap and the choice of drinks was poor. We had booked but the host had to " get a table ready for us" when we arrived. The place is pretty big and there just weren't enough people eating to give any sense of atmosphere. The music was bad, we waited 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted starters. In fact I got up and asked if they could take our order. The poppadoms were fresh but took way too long to come out. I asked for more drinks and the waiter said he would bring us some when we finished the ones we had. Which meant waiting for 10 minutes with empty glasses then making an effort to get his attention for service for them to bring us another drink. The mains were tasty and huge portion sizes too, the chef is skilled, however by this time I wanted to leave. I ate, paid and will never go back. First time I've ever not left a tip. Such a shame given the food was actually really nice. Sort out the service and you might keep the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI chose this place for my birthday meal, as I had seen it advertised on social media. What a big mistake, as it ruined my birthday!!! It took 1 hour for starters to arrive, and half an hour for a mocktail to be served to me. Mains came out 1 hour after we had finished starters. The mains, where do I start? - Over priced, bland, luke warm, and no real taste. My party of 7, left most of the food on the plate, they couldn't stomach it. We raised this issue with the manager, who was very rude aggressive, and raised his voice at us. We were very intimdated and frightened. We even have video evidence! He would not take any criticism towards the food, and instead tried to blame us for our choice in food. To top it all off - we asked for the bill 5 times, to be ignored. Please avoid this place at all costs, and dont believe what you see on their social media!! The manager needs to take a course on how to treat his customers, or maybe some anger management classes. Thank you for ruining...
