Bad coffee. We drove half an hour to get a good coffee based on the reviews. The coffee was bitter and just bad. Staff were friendly and nice, area is nice. EDIT: in response to the owner.... I'm a fully qualified, trained Barista, the coffee isn't bad because it 'isn't to my taste', it is bad because your staff are not properly trained. You're using a tamper on the side of the grinder, not a proper one or a pucpress (which would be a worthwhile investment), the staff don't know how to froth the milk, your machine hasn't been calibrated to express the coffee in the correct time according to the weight of coffee, which results in bitter, awful tasting coffee, regardless of the quality of the beans. I'm can't comment on bean quality because I didn't see a brand I recognise, but poor bean management may be another reason why you're producing sub-par coffee. The machine and grinder were of good quality, so there's really no excuse for how bad our coffees were. Our experience was entirely down to poor management, the staff were enthusiastic and doing their best. Contact your roaster, who should come out and sort your machine and train your staff. I didn't say anything to them because they were doing their jobs well, with the training and skills that they have. Coffee is a craft, maybe consider a bean to cup if you don't want to make the effort to learn the trade.

Worst service I can ever recall in a coffee shop. Miserable & obstinate. A request to have my espresso in the cup I provided was met with a tirade of garbage: "we don't do that"..."Why not?"..."We only use takeaway cups... we put lids on". Most coffee shops realise the environmental folly of disposable cups & stupid lids that get removed & thrown away in seconds. Not here. The unfriendly attitude continued when our 2yr old walked down the side of the shop. Glares through the window were soon followed by being ordered away. Absolutely no idea of what it takes to deal with customers. Will bring my own coffee on future visits to the lake. This place needs to change its attitude before this customer ever returns.

Great little café serving a full range of chilled and hot drinks plus savoury and sweet snacks and treats. Well stocked, great freshly ground coffee and service with a smile from friendly and attentive staff. Lots of information about allergens & intolerance so all food & drink is safe for all.

I came today with my friend and our babies who are 11 months old. We had a packet of baby crisps and some cucumber with us for the babies and we were going to order food and drink for ourselves from the cafe. When my friend went in to order, she was told that we could not sit outside the cafe because we had brought our own food. She explained that the snacks were for the babies and we were ordering for ourselves but we were still told we were not allowed to sit there.

I understand that you don’t want the cafe used as a picnic area but to tell us we are not allowed to sit outside the cafe because our babies are eating a bit of cucumber whilst sitting in their pushchairs is just ridiculous. We decided to leave without...
