This is our first time to try the Bengal but what a disappointment.firstly the menu has no info as to each dish style strength so selecting blind to some degree. Next thing no delivery available ??! Swanage in not a big town !! And then can’t pay by card only cash until you go to pick up them told yes CC is possible. We ordered on line and got a time to collect 8.40 pm I arrived at 8.30pm to collect our order and it was ready great !!!? Well got back home thinking it would be a great meal NoNo no how disappointing we were ,the chicken was stringy like it had been reheated from lunch and was not hot in temperature had to micro it my lamb was not much better either big chunks again cold not much flavour either. I think our order had been ready for a while and left not kept hot or kept to the time stated for collection. Restaurant was not busy at all so no excuse not to be fresh and hot ?!! Won’t be back
One thing all food outlets need to know and understand just because it’s a tourist town and may think that we are here and gone in a short period of time. Your reputation takes years to build but can be destroyed over night if you don’t deliver quality and...
Read moreLamb(?) Balti and Nan: It arrived looking like 3 tins of neat tomato puree filled with aggregate-Yes it was 100% Red ! It contained no visible vegetables ! And the lamb- if that was lamb I'm a spring chicken- it was definitely Mutton dressed up as lamb and was as tough as Gandi's flip flop .
They have a whole section of 'Meat Dishes' which are honestly described as Mutton but when you order Lamb you expect Lamb- I hope a food inspector will take a sample to the labs to test and have a word with the local magistrate for false representation. Change your menu for accuracy please ! (yes I do get it when you have a whole section of mutton dishes why bother to go the extra mile and buy the more expensive lamb)
The Nan was paper thin and half the usual size you expect from an Indian Restaurant.
I have been to Bangladesh and the food there is a million miles away from the utter crud served here.......I left no tip and the waiter was incredulous I would be so thoughtless- how about finding a chef who can cook and then see your profit treble !
Worst Balti in History for sure !
Expensive too compared to the average in UK

We then received the food and it is quite honestly the worst Indian food any of us have ever eaten. Absolutely no flavour to any of the dishes, the chicken in the 'special chicken tikka' biryani was most definitely processed and looked like it had come from a budget supermarket. The cauliflower bhajee had been totally over-boiled. The tarka dahl, absolutely no flavour or seasoning, the saag, a heap of chopped frozen spinach, again without any seasoning, spice or flavour. Quite literally, this was the most disgusting, disappointing Indian takeaway we have ever experienced. Our advice is to steer well clear and seek some REAL Indian...
