By 'eck! What a gem of a place we stumbled on today! Saw it advertised after using Google to look for ideas. The rarebit is literally, to die for. The chicken and salami sandwich is to die for. The bacon butties are to die for and the chips are to die for. Yes - we were in heaven. We couldn't possibly have eaten any of the yummy cakes unfortunately but we will definitely be back. And for three people, huge lunches, pot of tea, two coffees and a soft drink, we all agreed £40 was very acceptable indeed! We had to wait half an hour for a table as we hadn't booked but spent time in the lovely church in the village so it wasn't an issue at all. Parking is a take a chance scenario but there's always somebody leaving a space isn't there! Thank you to the staff who made us feel very welcome and who provided such...

We called in here today, it was a rainy day, so as we could not walk we decided to have a ride out. There was plenty of room in the cafe but the lady made us sit on a small table right next to another couple. It was very cramped and we felt most uncomfortable. Suffice to say, we did not stay. Before this we were going to sit at a table in the window next to the log burner! But she would not let us, in case a bigger party came in and needed the table! We left and went to the Lastingham Grange Hotel - we had a fabulous afternoon tea, the staff made us extremely welcome and the scone was to die for, so thank you for being so...

Absolutely wonderful homemade food and cakes. We all decided to have the same soup and you got a huge cob of bread with it and it wasn't a small bowl either! Brilliant value for money! The cafe is small but with the brick walls and the log fire it feels very cosy especially in the wind and wet weather we had on the day. There was a lovely couple next to us that even suggested what to have, such a friendly atmosphere! The service was prompt and the lady we presumed owned the place was incredibly polite and chatty. Brilliant value and lovely place, we will be...

Delighted to find this place, what a lovely place, sympathetically decorated to give visitors a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The choices of food were a joy, something for everyone, the menu was well thought out and inclusive of different dietary needs. The array of cakes and scones made choosing difficult, but thanks to the young man on the till, whose suggestion of a takeaway box was gratefully accepted. Sorry, there are no photos of the food we ordered. It was so good we just enjoyed it.

An incredible find on the moors. So many flavours from our childhoods, recreated even better than before. The fish finger sandwich is less fish finger than fine dining fish in a massive salad with homemade bread. Amazing. The Yorkshire rarebit with relish and salad everything I recall of cheese on toast, but so, so much better. Excellent decaf oataccinos, the rhubarb strudel tasted just like granddad's and the cream tea included fluffy scones and that jam.. highly, highly recommended.
