This was a nice experience due to the location, but don't visit when hungry. You are going to pay through the nose for a nice view. I write this disappointed in poor value for money even taking into account "Padstow prices". The restaurant is nice, the staff were friendly and fairly speedy (it's out of season) and the view across the harbour is gorgeous. We even had a friendly robin bob about our table. But we ordered the "full Cornish"... Which wasn't as "full as you'd expect for £13.50..... one tiny sausage, half a pudding tiny sausage, two small shrivelled bacon strips that shattered as overcooked. Two big mushrooms but were watery. A pot of beans holding a tablespoon of beans max. A tomato of average size that was underdone. One egg fried, crispy (not good) and a slice of toast cut in half. There are photos here in reviews that show a full plate, but the coffee cups and plates aren't that big. I couldn't help think it poor value for money- meat's expensive but they could up it to two eggs and ask how you want them cooked. And add another piece of toast, they already give you two pats of butter. This wouldn't cut that far into their profits. Speaking of which, don't bother coming for the golf. I understand it's been remodelled in recent years but it's a poor course. Which didn't make us feel any better after shelling out £33 for two breakfasts and two coffees, we were then charged £8.50 each to use such a poor course. No I am not kidding. Kids are £6.50 each. They keep the putters outside so bring your own ball and grab one and at least then you'd feel you'd got some value back on your breakfast...! Curiosity satisfied, won't be...
Read moreThis review is for the mini golf ONLY - as the cafe is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and is 5☆.
This mini golf has just been fully refurbed, and landscaped, and it makes me wonder why there was ZERO effort put into the design of the 18 holes!
It has potential to be an amazing course, well laid out, wonderful landscaping, amazing views. BUT, it's massively let down because each hole is a joke.
No matter how you hit the ball, 90% of the time it will roll to a stop in the same place as everyone else's ball stopped. Even a couple of shots later, you're probably still in the same divot! It's as if the cement was poured in and levelled by a 5 year old!
The whole 18 holes just need re-doing by a proper company. And that would bring the golf up to the high standard that would match the wonderful friendly cafe.
I hate to leave such a poor review, but whilst playing the course with my family last week, I knew after a few holes that I had to leave a review, so the owners could get some feedback, and hopefully get a company in to fix their badly...
Read moreGorgeous scones and breakfast options. I've only ever visited for this so can't comment on the rest of the menu but if it's the same quality, then you won't be disappointed. Dog friendly seating area outside too. You can't book for breakfast and it gets busy but also has a quick turnaround too, so you might have to wait a little for a table depending on the time.
The only downside to our visit is that the lift wasn't working and its up a decent flight of stairs. So not overly accessible for those that have difficulties. We had a pram so had to carry that up and down. Credit to the waiter who asked us if we needed help down, which we accepted as negotiating a labrador and baby down stairs is a handful for two people. This hasn't put us off though... we like good...
