Greenside — Restaurant in England

Well booked for boxing day lunch. First of all they phoned for our pre order menu on the 21st dec or close to that date and spoke to my elderly dad. Dad got upset as they were arguing with him as he already been in the pub with the pre order on the 18th and he had the receipts to say he paid they were saying he never so he got upset as my elderly mother was in hospital at the time. I took the phone of my dad to take over and I gave them the order over the phone. So I thought that was it. On boxing day lunch they brought the starters out. Tomato soup for the kids and I thought nah I never ordered that. So I mentioned this to my brother as his kids didn't eat the soup and asked if we could have what we did order. The person came who supposed to have took my order came out with the order she ticked over the phone saying she took the order and I have here I said I gave the order and I know I never ordered soup the alternative was garlic bread which we wanted for the kids. We were refused it as as they say I never ordered it. I know I did I shouldn't give it 2 stars really but the xmas pudding was nice otherwise I would have given a 1 star. The main meal wasn't really up to much either. My brother went for drinks half way through the meal and he said the bar staff was quite rude too. We used to go here years and years ago before management changed and used to be really nice. Will be back no more!! Very disappointed. with the xmas I had just made it even worse. Whats happened to the customer is always right. Well in this case she was right and I was wrong as I had to back down as she wasn't going to otherwise there would have been a scene in front of all my family and would have shown myself up. She wasn't backing down so I was very polite and said ok then no problem I'm not here for an argument that's fine even though I really wanted to say alot...

Having used Marston in various other towns I thought I’d give the Greenside a try. Ordered a 10 oz ribeye 🥩 medium rare. Order came within a reasonable time. Chips were a bit more like wedges, but were very hot and tasty, steak 🥩 cooked just right. The food and drink went down a treat. Very nice. Niggles bar never mentioned where the cutlery were which should be conveyed to customer. The younger lad serving the took my food to the wrong table. Never inquired as to anything else needed and no intervening to confirm all is ok. Had those shortcomings been achieved it would probably have been 5 ⭐️ All in all nice pub very nice food but customer satisfaction not...

First time in today despite being quite local to it, it's just off the main routes so you tend to forget it exists.

Had an excellent pint of Camerons Strongarm and we both had Steak and Mushroom Pie, Chips and Peas. Very good food. Adequate portion size, nice pie, excellent chips and a large helping of gravy. Considerably better the the last shocking pie offering at The Talpore and a few quid cheaper as well.

Special mention to very very friendly and helpful service we received.

Will definitely be going back here at some point. Five stars if the have a guest beer on draught next...
