Whilst the server and the manager were both very polite and courteous, the poor food quality and the extremely slow food service left a lot to be desired. It's very surprising how a simple breakfast, which is probably the easiest to cook can be so poorly done. To begin with, they didn't have scrambled eggs. The explanation provided was that the eggs are pre-prepared, so had to settle for poached eggs. Unfortunately, the poached eggs were overdone. They also use undersized eggs, so it's minuscule. The hash brown couldn't have been fried any more. Was significantly over fried till it was hard. The pancakes felt like something you'd pick off a supermarket shelf, very lightly garnished with a sprinkling of berries. The portion size for the baked beans was minuscule, probably just 1.5 tablespoon in quantity. The mushroom lacked freshness and tasted like it was microwaved rather than properly prepared. The food was also bought in an uncoordinated sequence. For example after a long wait the toast and butter were served first followed by another long delay for the pancakes and the main breakfast order. Lastly the restaurant really needs to clean their upholstered seating. The seats were stained and visibly dirty.

For New Years Day we decided to come here today as a treat. It was lovely! The greeter and our server were very friendly. The Service was quick, the Toilets were clean and it was cosy and nicely decorated inside. The food was delicious,it is lovely to have the Unlimited Salad Bar so you don’t have to wait for food as you can already eat. The food was fresh and tasty. I love the Unlimited Drinks machine too, very tasty and flavourful. For my main I went for the Smokehouse Pork Belly which was delicious and I loved the added flavour of the Onions and Sauce. The Corn was lovely, the Corn being cooked gave it a lovely taste and the Chips were delicious. The garden is beautifully decorated and the Christmas Decs are lovely. The only downsides of this place are that there is only one Gluten Free option for Mains and that it is a bit chilly inside. Also today there was no Rotisserie Chicken or Steak available so be prepared that they might not have what you want on the menu. I would highly recommend the Blacksmiths Arms Harvester. Happy New Year!

Good value & portion sizes with the added bonus of flavoursome chicken and steak. Salad bar was well stocked with a fair variety along with the usual bread rolls etc'. Service was attentive without being fawning and the staff were very good in taking my first steak back, as it had been overcooked, then checking that the replacement was to my satisfaction which it was. This is a Harvester after all but it is the best one I have been to in the last year or so; Wheatley and Holtspur are disappointing in comparison. I opted for the Bird, Surf n Turf and found it to be far better value than say a rump steak. The chicken was moist and the (2nd) steak, cooked rare, was of good quality as well as being soft and full of flavour. Prawns were good too although I was feeling generous and swapped them with my son for his asian slaw! Did try the fries but only one. They were OK, nothing to shout about but preferred the addition of salad instead. A good luncheon venue and possibly extra value for early bird dining.

Unfortunately there wasn't anything that was great about our visit. We booked in for a party of 17 people at 19.30 we were seated promptly as we booked in advance, however it was quite a lengthy wait until the server took our orders. We were seated over 50 minutes and we still had not received no drinks or salad bowls. When the food came out it wasn't all bad but the pork belly slices on both mine and my dad's ultimate grill were completely burnt, after finishing our meals we were left waiting again for another long period of time and none of our plates were cleared, nobody offered desserts and nobody asked if we wanted any more drinks at all throughout the whole time we was there, a couple of us got a second drink only because we had to call the server over and even then they needed reminding again about it, This was in no way the servers fault, this was a major error on the management side of things as there was only one server serving the entire upstairs with a few large groups making it difficult to keep everybody happy. When we first sat down a family next to our party had just finished and left shortly after we arrived, their dirty plates were left on the table the entire time of our visit and we didn't get out of there till around half ten. We was there for my sons 18th birthday and had dropped a cake off earlier in the day so he didn't see the cake before we sang happy birthday, when we arrived at half seven for our meal I brought the candles with us which was a one and an eight candle. I kindly requested that the candles be put with our cake and the lady happily obliged, when I came down and asked for the cake and candles they could not find the candles and I was then told my candles had been used by somebody else. Now I know its not the restaurants responsibility to keep our stuff for us but if they couldn't keep it safe they could have just said no and that would have been fine I would have kept hold of them myself. All in all it was a terrible experience and will likely never visit the blacksmith Arms again. I hope that when we visit another harvester restaurant that the service is far better quality than that. Again I will say this situation was all down to bad management. We also know we was not the only party disappointed with the service as we over heard another party having a disagreement with the team. I booked well in advance and I assume the other larger parties that was also on the upper level did so to, so why did management not pre-emp this and assign more than one server. This would be a zero star review but it doesn't allow...

We booked our table about 45 minutes before our arrival. When we arrived, we were seated quite quickly. Restaurant was quite loud , lots of tables for such a small dining area.

We were served quite quickly about 10 minutes after we sat down by a lovely waitress. She got our drinks and took our order and brought our salad bowls.

This is where everything went wrong ! We had to ask for cutlery as there was none on the table. Food wait was about 40 minutes, then We saw our food sat on the hot light for at least 10 minutes before it was brought over .

We had ordered the chorizo and pork belly skewer and the rump and chicken skewer with a side of Mac and cheese .

Our food finally came to our table , the chorizo and pork belly was warm , the rump was cold in the middle and really dry , the chicken was also just warm and very dry. The Mac and cheese finally arrived about 5 minutes later , which wasn't actually Mac and cheese , it was pasta that had been put in to a salad bowl with cheese put on top and I watched them put it in the microwave and then bring it over !

The portion size was ridiculously small , for a side dish that was a paid extra.

We spoke to a waitress and said about the portion size and how it had arrived and Clearly wasn't Mac and cheese . The waitress agreed with us but was apparently normal !!

We then spoke with the manager and he took our drinks and the Mac and cheese off as we had asked the waitress to take the Mac and cheese off the bill as we didn't want it .

after checking our bill we realised we had been given someone else's bill . I then spoke with the manager again and explained that I wasn't happy . He was very polite and was clearly having a bad evening and seemed very overwhelmed.

I personally wouldn't eat at this harvester again in the current state...

Absolutely awful service, there were times when we had to repeat ourselves because the staff didn't even bother to acknowledge what we said. We arrived and someone had an allergy, I mistakenly said no to the allergy question and within moments corrected myself only to be told in a curt tone...I just asked you that. Then there was no explanation to say that they would need to go through some question before we could order, instead Sally just said, I know you are waiting il be back. A little while later she again mumbled "i know you are waiting. A bit of context would have been super helpful. Finally when she came she showed us two tablets where we had to sign to state we understood the terms and conditions of dining there with an allergy. Never in my life have I been made to feel as though I'm a wrongun for dining with a child with allergy. Now they were busy but there is no excuse for the Absolutely disgraceful experience we received, my nephew asked where the straws were and recieved an abrupt "just go around there". He came back to the table mortified and asked his grandmother to come with him. It was like this throughout, as though they couldn't be bothered to talk to us. Waited ages to order the desert, then again when we asked for the bill half way through he conversation she walked to an empty table to pick up rubbish before coming back to us to settle up. By this point the lunch time rush had completely died down. Absolutely disgusted and please don't bother responding with the standard reply of we will feed this back to the team, or this isn't our standard, because when it mattered, it was your standard and clearly your team...
