UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 2025! I decided to give this restaurant another chance, hoping that our previous experience was a one off, but sadly not so! Yet again, the chicken was tough, chewy and fatty, the sauce was incredibly salty, the Peshwari Naan breads had virtually no flavour and exactly where was the garlic in the garlic rice? Food arrived very cool, certainly not hot enough! Unfortunately, a complete waste of money! So that is it, I'll never be ordering from here again! (The following was my first, original review) This was my first experience of Jalpuri in Woodley, Reading, unfortunately not likely to order again. Two very different chicken mains, one for me and one for my son, we both found that some pieces of chicken to be tough and chewy, which was extremely off putting and spoiled our meals. This was a takeaway order. The ordering by phone was very easy and the staff member taking my order was polite. The order was ready to collect quite quickly after ordering. Upon arrival at the restaurant, the staff were friendly and polite. I was asked to take a seat for a short time, whilst a staff member fetched my order. Once back home, I dished the food out, it all looked and smelled lovely and the portion sizes were good, everything was nice and hot. But due to some chicken pieces being tough and chewy, the entire meal was ruined, and after spending just over £30.00, I'm disappointed, especially considering my decision to try Jalpuri was based on reading about awards this restaurant had won for their food. I didn't call the restaurant to lodge a complaint, which I should have done, but as it is Mothers Day, and as a family we were trying to enjoy our evening, I didn't want to spoil the evening by making a scene. A bit of a costly...

We had our marriage blessing reception at Jalpari of woodley on the 3rd of June 2017. It was a wonderful experience. Mosh and his team are simply the best when it comes to customer service. We had read loads of wonderful reviews about this restaurant and we visited just to see and also have a taste of the food. I am very particular about restrooms and must say its a very clean restaurant and the restroom super clean and well maintained.Fully airconditoned too. The food is excellent and our guests were more than satisfied. They asked how we got to know such a great place. Size wise we wish we had more space so we could invite more people to experience the beautiful service from Mosh and the team and also enjoy the lovely food. We couldnt have asked for more. Our friends promise to come back and even use this place for their occasions too. My hubby and I want to say a big thank you to Mosh and team at Jalpari of woodley for the great service. We appreciate and are grateful. Thanks and God bless u. Anyone looking for a great cosy indian restaurant with mouthwatering dishes, and wonderful service,Jalpari of Woodley is the place to be. We love it...

Booked a table for two on Banquet Night, which is every Wednesday. The place was busy due to Eat Out to Help Out promotion, but that didn't stop them for providing an excellent, welcoming and friendly service. They had made helpful adjustments, so social distancing could be maintained. Meat Samosa and King prawn for starters. Both were good, but I was particularly impressed with the Samosa, much bigger than the usual found in your average curry house and delicious too. The sizzling Lamb Shashlik was a scrumptious delight, tender and full of flavour. Probably the best Sag Aloo we've ever had, the waiter kindly explained how it was prepared to maximise taste. The chana masala, nan and chapati were also of a high standard. All in all, a fantastic meal. I highly recommend making the effort to...

Our second visit here for buffet. Starters this time we're ok. The chicken wings were superb, samosas tasty. However the aloo chat was not as my wife expected or remembered from her student days of having this dish. It was bland and uninspiring. The garlic mushrooms were nice but not very garlicky, but that is a matter of personal taste. Main courses were excellent. A wonderful heat to the chicken pathia and the chicken sagwala was excellent. A very good amount of spinach in the sauce. All in all this is an excellent buffet at a great price. Service is very friendly and efficient. What's not to like.

Lovely, local Indian restaurant. One of the best. Strongly recommend booking in advance if eating in. Takeaway is prompt, always piping hot and authentic. Eating in? Staff are very attentive, without being over barring. Some places are pushy and spoil the atmosphere pushing drinks & extras. The lovely staff here have the balance just right. Hesitate recommending for fear of not being able to book a table. The Wednesday evening buffet is a discounted treat. (Apologies, I only have photos of starters and dessert. Was too busy enjoying the mains in real life).
