AVOID!

The worst and rudest ‘service’ I have ever received - anywhere, ever. Those of us in the queue to be served were simply ignored for an age and when we were ‘served’ were treated with discourtesy and blatant contempt - just for trying to order some food and drink. Odd thing to do in a café I guess.

In addition, the tables were dirty and the whole place looked uncared for. Used to visit regularly but it seems it has been allowed to fail, badly.

I make a point of trying to leave good reviews and take time to speak to the establishment itself when things are not great. However, today I was basically told to shove it, so I have had to make an exception.

The young lad behind the counter was so surly and unpleasant (not just to customers but even to his co-worker) that in the end I left without ordering anything and thought that I should share my experience.

Go anywhere but here.

FYI - I popped around the corner to the Chalet in Portinscale - lovely, friendly staff, good food and a nicer setting....

My wife and I have walked by jaspers a few times while on our holidays in Braithwaite, we thought it was just a coffee shop , one day we decided to call in for a drink after our walk with the dogs, what a really nice place, the young man served us was really helpful and we realised then they did food , the following morning we went for a full breakfast as we were travelling home , oh my it was delicious, we loved it and again the young man and young woman serving us was so polite and helpful and friendly,ll makes it a great experience. Once we finished and said goodbye we walked to our car and drove home, I then realised I had forgotten my bag that was on the floor where we had sat in the cafĂŠ, I phoned and again the lovely people there sorted it out and the owners sent my bag by post for us . We are so thankful. If you are visiting the lake District please visit jaspers , the food the coffee and the team are just lovely.

Thank you Paul x Annie...

I am rating you 0 stars even though I had to give 1 to be able to post this.

3 of us went for breakfast at Jaspers on Saturday morning. The staff were very unfriendly. There was only us in there and we waited around 30 mins for breakfast. When it arrived the eggs were quite raw, bacon was inedible, sausages were uncooked in the middle, beans were cold, the rest of it wasn't worth mentioning. The toast was tiny and was as hard as a brick.

We noticed that the cook was using a microwave a lot. Surely it should be freshly cooked.

Needless to say most of the food was left on the plate.

We complained to the waitress and she just shrugged her shoulders and said Uhhh!

It cost ÂŁ34 for the 3 of us for 3 breakfasts and a cuppa.

We realised that we should have pressed the matter further and not pay, but we paid and...

Average. Pleasant staff, strange “no swapping” rule for full english breakfasts, so instead you pay to add items and end up wasting the food you would’ve swapped. The sausage tasted like it’d been sat on a hot plate for a while, as did the bacon. Eggs were nice, tomatos didn’t taste fully cooked. I did go at 11am though so maybe towards the end of the time they serve breakfast? The iced coffee was fantastic though. I’d deffo return but only for coffee and a cake. Lovely location.

This is a lovely coffee shop with inside and outside seating. The coffee is of an extremely high quality and the tray bake cakes are a must. The ladies serving were friendly and polite. If you look at the photo you can see from the boards that they also serve - waffles, hot and cold sandwiches, panninis, smoothies, milk shakes etc.. Well worth a visit.

JCH really was an unexpected delight after we’d been hiking around Whinlatter for the afternoon, as I wasn’t expecting to find any cafes catering to vegans close by. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. A real bonus that they were dog friendly too, so we didn’t have to sit outside. Highly recommend!
