We arrived yesterday for my sons birthday with my in laws who are in their 90s so struggle to walk. Johan and Gilles greeted us at the doors opening the doors for my in laws, making sure they were aware of changes in floor materials for their walkers, got them both cushions for the chairs and helped them both to their seats! The booking was incredibly easy over email, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was amazing (even the children in there were all given crayons and colouring books!). They also didn't add the 10% service charge that others are doing now which was a welcome bonus as we prefer to give tips based on the service we are given. The staff were so kind, attentive and they really made our visit so special. Even when we left, Johan and Gilles were ready with my in laws walking frames and sticks, helping them with their jackets and walking them back to the doors once again holding the doors open etc. We were completely blown away by their kindness! It's a terrible thing but you expect bad service in restaurants nowadays and are usually right but Johan and Gilles were exceptional in their attention and I'm SO happy I decided to book the Jet Miners for my son's birthday! We'll definitely be back for my 50th in the summer if not before! Thank you all so so much, it meant ALOT yesterday, you deserve every success xxx

We stopped at the Jet Miners while on a scenic coach drive through Bilsdale. It's very much a traditional country inn, located in a village of neat cottages once lived in by jet miners. Very olde-worlde and cosy inside, with wooden beams, lots of horse brasses, and welcoming log fires. There's a quirky low doorway beside one of the fires (you have to mind your head!) leading to a second bar area, and there's also a conservatory restaurant. The bar staff were very hospitable and friendly. Good choice of ales. I ordered half a pint of Timothy Taylor - a good Yorkshire beer! But the main reason we were all here was to sample a slice of Yorkshire curd tart. Served with lemon curd and cream, it was really scrumptious! We also got to meet Martin, the chef, who explained how it was made. Very convivial atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed the short time we spent in this friendly pub, and would love to come back some day and try one of their meals.

It was a nice meal and friendly service but I don't know if it has enough redeeming qualities to bring us back again. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the place, but it was just 'middle of the road' we felt, especially with lots of strong competition nearby. The outdoor seating area was covered over and looked to be a nice area to dine at; if we were to go back we would sit there next time. The rib eye was nice, but a bit too much balsamic vinegar for my liking. The parmo's were standard sized ie a decent portion. 3.5 stars is probably a more accurate score but Google Maps won't let me.

Jet Miners in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire is an absolute gem! My partner, Rajen, and I had the pleasure of dining here, and from start to finish, everything was exceptional.

We ordered the fish and chips, the pie, and a coffee, and I have to say, the fish and chips were battered to absolute perfection—probably the best I’ve ever had. The crispiness of the batter, the freshness of the fish, and the perfectly cooked chips made for an outstanding meal. The pie was rich, hearty, and full of flavor, exactly what you’d hope for from a classic British pub meal. We also tried the seafood soup, which was absolutely amazing—full of depth, warmth, and fresh, high-quality seafood.

Beyond the fantastic food, the service was impeccable. The staff were extremely respectful, friendly, and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Even though we arrived towards their closing time and at the end of their shift, they still graciously served us whatever we wanted, without rushing us, and remained incredibly helpful throughout our meal.

The ambience of Jet Miners is incredibly cozy and warm, perfect for a relaxed dining experience. Since it’s also an inn, the setting has a charming, traditional feel that makes you want to stay for hours. The fireplace next to us was constantly topped up by the staff, ensuring we were comfortable and warm throughout our meal. Their attention to detail and hospitality truly stood out.

If you’re looking for the perfect dining experience in Middlesbrough, Jet Miners is an absolute must-visit. The combination of exceptional food, a welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding service makes this place truly special. We will definitely be returning!

We visited this pub for the first and last time on Saturday. The food was diabolical and service even worse.

We ordered drinks and 3 main meals. The chicken Parmesan was over cooked, stringy, cheap chicken covered by soggy batter and sour tasting béchamel sauce accompanied with burnt chips. The fish and chips was more like batter and burnt chips - very little fish to be seen. The fish mac and cheese had 4 pieces of fish in and the rest was macaroni. All this for £52 is a complete rip off.

Two of us ended up in A&E that night with severe food poisoning resulting in 12 hours in hospital. This has been reported to environmental health and the food standards agency.

To top it off, we went to pay the bill at the end of the meal to find the card machine was conveniently not working. The staff embarrassed us in front of other customers suggesting it was our fault. The card machine however was not connecting to their WiFi. As we do not carry cash, we agreed to leave our phone number and they would call when the machine was back up to take payment via phone. We did not receive a phone call therefore we made over 10 calls to the pub to make payment however none were answered. We have today (Tuesday) received a rude WhatsApp message from the pub demanding payment. We have again tried to make payment by calling several times and after several no answer calls we have been able to make payment to a rude staff member on the phone.

We are very distressed by this experience and certainly will not be returning.

If you want a decent meal that is fairly priced and comes with exceptional customer service, I recommend going 10 minutes down the road to the Mill...
