Staying in the local area we really fancied a proper Sunday lunch and spotted this pub had great reviews. I phoned to book around 11.45am and the earliest table for 2 was at 1.45pm - a good sign! When we arrived we were welcomed warmly and very well looked after by the staff and I believe the owner also. Drinks came out promptly and our beef roast dinners were fabulous. Often a pub Sunday lunch will have tough meat and cold, hard potatoes - especially at a later sitting - but here it was absolutely perfect. The beef was generously served, tender and fell apart on the fork, the potatoes were piping hot and perfectly done, a perfect Yorkshire pudding, a generous helping of seasonal veg (served on the side) and - best of all - tons of delicious, proper tasty gravy. All served within 15 mins of us sitting down and ordering.

We couldn't manage dessert but we saw them being brought to other tables and they looked incredible. We never felt at all rushed though the pub was really busy and we did get a check back on how our food was. All in all, a really lovely experience and I highly recommend this...

We have been irregular visitors to the Bay Horse for 30+ years and on the whole have always had a lovely meal. Unfortunately this was not the case when we went for Sunday lunch a week ago. Between booking a week earlier and turning up, the price for the roast had increased by a £1 to £16.95. I appreciate that restaurants etc have rising costs but there reaches a point when you have to question whether something is worth the price. On this occasion it certainly wasn't. I choose roast pork which I accept can be fatty however I have never had this much fat served up and the actual meat was dry and tasteless. By far the worse roast joint I have had when eating out. The roast potatoes were oily and had no colour to them. Not roast potatoes at all. In fairness my partner enjoyed his roast lamb but had the same issue with the roast potatoes. But said it wasn't worth £16.95. The rest of the meal was fine which is why I did the ' British ' thing and didn't complain and that plus the good service is why I have given 3 stars. Unfortunately based on Sundays offering we will not...

Has customer service disappeared... Disappointed! I have been a customer of the Bay horse for over 35 years, and had many happy meals there in the past. However having attended there this evening being moved from the table, and then moved again with very little concern for the customer. (I really feel the customer service was very very poor( it was almost as if we were in the way) The pinical was when we were told you cannot use the toilets in the restaurant once you had finished your meal and been cast out into the bar area to try and complete your evening....(even though we had already spent a considerable sum with them (and they were turning away elderly people from the nearest toilet... who were not particularly steady or good on their feet) I know restaurants need to work hard to keep customers in these difficult times ,but please don’t let profit drive down customer service and make long existing customer for over30years SAY never again. Sorry guys we...

Lovely …… as usual…..but isn’t food getting smaller and more expensive nowadays ! …. As well as the price of a pint ….. makes ‘going out’ visits less frequent. August 2024 … still as Brill as usual. UPDATE : another lovely visit, great attentive friendly service. However, I don’t like to complain but the chips really need an update …. Soggy, fat-laden like been ‘sitting’ for ages. I won’t be ordering them again until improve. Take the potatoes & veg ! Peroni now £6.20/pint. Dec 2024 update :- please note that approx 10% service charge (optional to remove it) now being automatically added to bill. 0% alcohol beer only available via bottle (Heineken). Peroni now £6.40/pint, G& T £6.75. Nice atmosphere with xmas lights all around the beams. Nice that the radiators were warm this time …..until about 14.30
