On arriving I was faced over the counter by a young man who just stood and stared at me. When you arrive at any venue for the first time you would like a moment to take in the surroundings and see what is on offer. He made me so uncomfortable that I just ordered a coffee. During the time he was preparing the drink it gave me a moment to look around and I noticed most food items were leaning toward vegetarian and vegan and I don't think it right that the National Trust should dictate to us what we should eat. When I sat down at an inside table, a laminated sign was tied to the table requesting we clear the table and use the bins provided. This doesn't take into account that the table was covered in crumbs and foodstuff left by previous diners. I would have cleared the table if I hadn't been rudely prompted and so left my cardboard cup and sugar packet wrappers on the table as my silent protest. Shall not be returning. Such a shame, as when I got off the ferry this cafe looked a quaint magical place and I was looking forward to a pleasant experience after scaling Claife Heights. What a...

Really nice little cafe, if you're heading to the viewing point I would absolutely recommend a visit.

The pasties were excellent and rank as some of the best I've ever eaten, a chickpea and bhaji pasty had never occurred to me beforehand but now I wonder how I ever managed before!

Drinks were both good, flat white was well made. Everyone was friendly and pleasant.

I cannot stress enough how enjoyable it was having the local birds (mainly robins and bluetits) come and land on the table with us. They were so friendly and it was something you rarely experience and a lovely moment all round.

The only potential downside is the lack of a toilet and the pricing. However, they do have a signpost directing you to a nearby toilet so it's fairly a non-issue, along with the location being the sort of place you wouldn't expect a toilet anyway really. Equally with the price, the excellent location does usually come with a higher price - as it does here. Regardless, I would definitely love to come again and highly...

I am a chef myself and love trying new things but 2 times I have been here in the past and tried their soup. First time was broccoli and stilton, tasted rancid, went straight in the bin. Second time was tomato soup...had to many condiments just put in together ..not a cream soup but not nicely medium cut veg either...tasted like curry, tomato skin coming out of it, just a very bizzare mess.

Today we went there and got an americano-really bad, 2 carrot cakes which I was very disappointed to notice-had a lot of sultanas inside which I dislike and have no place in a carrot cake-8£ in the bin and 2 latte, 1 went in the bin, would have been better with real milk. Vegetarian/vegan/healthy eating is good but there is no need for artificial ingredients or a mountain of condiments-fresh veg, salt, pepper and nice fresh herbs can do the trick. Sad that they cannot even use normal...

Really brilliant little cafe right on the exit of the windemere car ferry across the mere! Right at the entrance to the claife viewing station this lovely little cafe has a huge menu of hot and Cold drinks, snacks, cakes, hot and Cold pastries and similar items to eat in or take away! They have a lovely indoor seated area aswell as two outdoor areas, it's totally dog friendly and the cakes are absolutely fantastic,! Huge variety and loads of really great vegan and gluten free options too for those who have a sweet tooth it's a must try! We had a salted caramel flapjack and a brownie and sat in the sun overlooking Windermere before going on a walk, if you're in the area definitely pass into Joeys you won't be disappointed!
