In the midst of our modern travel, one may occasionally chance upon an establishment that serves as an oasis amidst the weary road. Such was my recent encounter at the KFC within Membury service station. The clamor and bustle of this rest stop fade into insignificance when set against the culinary delight that awaited me.
Upon entering, my senses were immediately enraptured by the aroma of frying chicken, an olfactory prelude to the feast that lay ahead. The chicken, upon first glance, bore a golden coat, a testament to the mastery of its preparation. To describe it merely as 'fresh' would be a disservice to its true nature. The flesh was succulent beyond expectation, a tender symphony of flavor that could only be likened to the finest poultry from the grand feasts of yore.
Ah, but it was the sauce, dear reader, that transformed this repast from mere sustenance to an ethereal experience. It cascaded over the chicken in generous waves, creating a veritable slip and slide of gustatory pleasure within my mouth. Each bite was an ambrosial flood, a delicious deluge that carried me to heights of culinary ecstasy seldom reached.
As I indulged in this repast, my gaze drifted to the exterior, where the sweeping vista presented itself—a child, spirited and buoyant, being pushed down a hill with all the vigor of youthful exuberance. The scene, though mundane, took on an almost pastoral beauty, a living portrait framed by the windows of this roadside sanctuary.
In conclusion, dear traveler, should you find yourself upon the weary road and in need of refreshment, seek out the KFC at Membury service station. There, amidst the noise and haste, you shall discover a dining experience both succulent and sublime, a true testament to the artistry of modern...
Read moreWe had been travelling down to Somerset on a bank holiday Friday when the kids started screening. After 10 miles of this we decided to stop and the next service we came to (Membury service)
We stop and dragged the screening kids in and bribed them to shut up with the offer of a KFC.
The services was very very busy and when we found the KFC my hard dropped and i could fill my ears starting to bleed. As every other parent had had the same idea and the queue was all the way access the burger king.
We went to the self service kiosk and ordered what we wanted (2 minutes) we waited for our order (5 minutes)
I was amazed and was sure that when i got it to the table, something would be wrong.
Thankfully everything was correct and the food was good (for a KFC) hot and not greasy.
Much happier, we went to put the rubbish in the bin. I am all for multiple choice exams but i cannot stand the new bin exam I have to take when i need to dispose of something. This exam was the biggest I have ever seen with even categories for different types of plastic.
So we did what everyone else did and left it for the staff to do.
The visit to the KFC at Membury service was an around success and we went away a lot happier.
We all know that being in a UK services the prices is expensive. However the KFC was the same price as the high street which is another plus.
If you are on the m4 between junctions 14 & 15 and you have some screaming kids! Than you need to go there. (one off journeys not...
Read moreTo say that chicken in this KFC is awful is an understatement! I ordered a Mighty Bucket for One and the only edible things were chicken fillets. Chicken drum looked huge when I picked it up but it was super light. When I poked the crust it revealed a 2cm hole exposing a bone with about 1cm thickness of chicken on it. I’ve never ever seen such drums in my life, not even in a supermarket! The chef at this KFC must be a real magician! They sell food which clearly should not be sold and what’s even more impressive – they make it look presentable!
I had some skinny chicken wings in my time but these were something else! I am not a big guy and normally this meal really fills me up, however on this occasion I was still hungry.
The chef really has to work on his chip cooking techniques because unlike chicken these tasted and looked pretty bad. If I was visiting this KFC in the summer, I would probably substitute these for raw potatoes from a nearby field!
And to add insult to an injury I was told that there is no ketchup or mayo in this KFC. Seriously? What’s the...
