Ok I'm not super thrilled to leave a 2 star review, but I want to see a restaurant do well here in Lostock so I'm hoping some constructive criticism will be well received.
Removed 1 star for attitude towards intolerances and dietary restrictions. When the waiter came to take orders, my partner wanted to question the menu and told him "I have a dairy intolerance," to which the waiter replied "what's that?" It was then on us to explain it and list what foods needed to be avoided. Normal expectation and experience at other restaurants has been: The waiter would know the menu well enough to advise The waiter would go and consult with the chef on what could be eaten, or There should always be a kitchen menu listing all dishes and their associated allergens that can be presented to a customer to make their own informed choice.
In this instance, my partner asked about a particular dish and the waiter just looked at it and mumbled about how it was probably fine. Not convincing and not good enough to be honest. Additionally, there are items on the menu incorrectly labelled as vegan, so I'm not filled with confidence about the restaurants ability to cater to different dietary preferences let alone serious allergies.
Removed a second star for service. As a party of 4, one main dish was incorrect when brought to the table. Fair enough, mistakes happen, but we weren't satisfied with how it was handled. We were told the correct dish would arrive in 3 minutes but really it was closer to over 15 minutes, by which time the other three party members meals were going cold so we had to awkwardly eat while one person had to wait. During this time, at least 3 other tables continued to get food, where surely it should have been a priority to correct and complete our table order first.
Service overall was polite and friendly, although we did have to ask for water three times, and we never saw the waiters again once our main courses were delivered. No chance of ordering dessert.
At the end of the meal, after only being able to get the bill by putting coats on and walking towards the door, the initial incorrect dish was on our bill (more expensive than the correct dish) and we had to talk with two waiters before it was agreed to change it.
Removed a third star for atmosphere. The restaurant was lovely when we first arrived, but halfway through our main course the music volume was whacked up and we could no longer speak to each other at our table. I get that some people might want the party atmosphere, but surely not at 8pm on a Tuesday while eating. We chose to avoid eating out on the weekend to have a quieter night, but no luck.
Overall the place has got potential and I hope you do well, but we will avoid until some...
Read moreWhat can i say, I'm not one to bad mouth or cause trouble, cause I've been on the receiving end in business as many of you know. Dont want to name drop, JWS Cafe Bar, Madisons, The Fryer Brigade mobile catering business, The Boatyard Bistro need i go on. Its bloody hard out there for folk and business owners too alike . Tonight for the first time we went to the new La Turka in Lostock, my husband is livid im none to happy myself. We went in good faith and on recommendation with very good friends, Myself food ok, good, service good.... got the bill £19.34 service charge for 4 of us, we paid as to save face with our goods friends, not wanting to cause upset. We had a two hour slot, which really with a bill of £212 odd, you should not really be governed that much if your spending that kind of money. We went to have drinks in the bar area, granted we had and had, had a few drinks but we know when we are being taken the piss out of us. In the mix of the drinks my husband ordered 2 large baileys, what come was 1 baileys each, which should of been served as a double as any one who knows what there talking abt knows, cause that how baileys is served, a double. £14 odd for 2 normal sized baileys, rip off, piss take they had already had £212. 69 including £19.34 service charge. Then £57 something. will not be going again and not recommending this place. And before anyone says why didnt you tell them we did, they weren't interested, which created another argument. Only reason ive not put it on TripAdvisor or any other place, cause they will cover it up with good reviews ( i know to much) Just be warned check your bill, check it twice and you dont..... repeat dont have to pay the...
Read moreWhile A La Turka Northwich boasts a modern and beautifully decorated setting, the culinary experience fell short of expectations. The food, regrettably, did not align with our anticipations. The dishes were notably greasy, lacking the desired balance with elements such as vegetables and side dishes—this imbalance in the nutritional aspect detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal. However, this dish is great for carnivores. There was a tiny cup of coleslaw and plain white rice, which were not a problem but were not enough. My partner and I have visited a lot of Turkish restaurants around the world, and this one was the biggest disappointment. However, it's worth noting that the establishment has a commendable ambience; the modern décor creates a pleasant dining environment. Moreover, the staff provided a fantastic service, displaying professionalism and attentiveness throughout our visit. In summary, while the ambience and service at A La Turka Northwich were praiseworthy, there is substantial room for improvement in the culinary offerings. Enhancing the food's balance, quality, and nutritional aspects would significantly elevate the overall...
