Quite honestly the only reason this place gets 1 star instead of none is because of the young lad and girl doing all the work in here. When we arrived it was very quiet at 1pm on a Sunday, we were told to take a seat and thought there were two other customers sat at one of the tables but it turned out to be someone(manager, owner, another member of staff?) berating the young girl front of house. How unprofessional to be talking down to another member of staff like that and what makes it worse it was in front of customers! She seemed quite new and to be honest I don’t know why she stayed, the person (who we never seen again) even commented on her wearing make up! Rude and unprofessional to the highest degree. We ordered drinks at the bar and thought about leaving because we did not feel welcome after hearing all that, but as it had quietened down we stayed. This was our mistake. We ordered a beef and a veggie Sunday roast, both inedible - bland, lukewarm and ultimately just not nice. We left most of it and went to settle up at the bar, I told the two members of staff that it was really bad and they couldn’t have been more apologetic - I did get money off which was good of them and I said I would talk to a manager because this is not their fault and I also wanted to raise what we heard when we first arrived. Both managers had left the site and the lad called one of them for authorisation to discount to meal but that was it. Honestly, if the staff are treated the way I seen I don’t blame the food being awful, because who cares when they are being spoken to and...

Was able to book a table this morning for a few hours later, unfortunately the online booking facility didn't work for me. This may be something for the management to address. The pub atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were very friendly. We chose 3 roast beef dinners, with sides of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets, a hunters chicken and a pulled pork beef burger. The food was delicious; extra gravy and sauces were provided with a simple ask. The beef literally melted in my mouth. The range of veg was lovely; peas, green beans, parsnips, red cabbage and a carrot and something mash (maybe turnip?). It was all seasoned beautifully. My other half said his only complaint would be that the horseradish sauce wasn't nosey enough! My Son said the burger was the best he had ever had. The hunters chicken was served in a skillet plate which my Mum said made it difficult to access the salad- she said she would have preferred it on a plate, but we all have our own opinions! A first visit, but definitely not our last. Reasonably priced, delicious food. What more can you ask...

Popped in for food while working and where do I start? The Waiter Didn’t have a clue. Thought they didn’t Sell ale, wasn’t aware they sold a rhubarb gin, asked to upgrade chips on a mixed grill to a Fried Chicken loaded fries and he came back to say I “couldn’t add on fried chicken to the mixed grill” and I clarified I just wanted to UPGRADE my chips to the loaded ones, all was fine until the food came out and my Gravy was forgotten, I had regular fries alongside my loaded onesc and then they tried to charge us for a large lemonade we didn’t have and when I paid my bill they tried to make me pay full price for the loaded fries instead of the upgrade price, then after they chatted about the it and discussed service procedure before finally taking something off the bill to reflect the correct price, only to then try and charge another member of my party for it later. Food was Fine but The Staff have little communication, little training and a single Brain Cell Shared...

Having driven past this pub for years and never hoing in. We gave it a try with our 3 grandkids as a Friday night treat. We were greated by a freindly lady who ensured we were ok and took our order and nade sure we had everything we needed. The kids food was excellent, freshly made, cooked, tasty & the portions were good. My wife and I had fish and chips and again, really tasty and served with home made tartare sauce which was a big surprise. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be revisiting.

Nice refurb. Dog friendly areas. Had chicken Cambodian curry. Very tasty BUT not piping hot so 1 less star for that. Partner had haddock and enjoyed it. Good choices on menu. Will call again most definitely. 16/7 Sunday lunch. 2 starters very nice. Mushrooms and chicken strips with a lovely gravy. Beef and chicken dinner. Good size. Veg mash and a yorkie. Very nice. Only gripe for me is the gravy was a bit watery. Tasty though. Very dog friendly

What a friendly place. A get together had been organised there. We could stay over in our tent in the generous beer garden, what a sun trap. A toilet was available all through the night. Which was really good for me with a tiny bladder. We were invited to stay another night even though all our friends had left. We stayed and watched the band and met more locals. We had a wonderful time, a very relaxing weekend. Just what we needed.
