Lanty Slee's Elterwater — Restaurant in England

We ate here whilst staying at Brimstone as we wanted some nicer food than that offered at Langdale, and WOW, anyone at Langdale / Brimstone / just in the area needs to come...

First off, the building itself. Its on the side of such a beautiful fell, on a pristine B road, with a fantastic view. The owner told us they built the Lanty Slee and it shows, its in amazing condition, the dining rooms bar and outside seating all really welcoming.

Food. Food is 10/10. The menu is mostly small plates and we ordered 3-4 each, and they were perfect. From pan-Asian to Greek cuisine we were worried the food would feel confused. It didn't, the ingredients were fresh and the taste of each dish was amazing.

Drinks. Drinks are also 10/10. They distil their own spirits and they are so smooth you could get dangerously drunk quickly.... The cocktails are amazing, the beer selection brilliant, and the alcohol-free selection unexpectedly well thought of and good as-well.

Service shines here too. The energy and warmth is apparent the second you walk in the door. Everyone wants to be here, everyone is chatting, there's up-beat jazz playing. Service is fast, you never feel like you're waiting for a drink, a chat, or to be asked how things are.

Little overrated. Food is fine but overpriced. Experience rather dominated by lairy Mancunian cousin (?) of owner behaving like he’s ready for a fight all the time. The big “I am” oozes. That ridiculous Oasis stance with his hands behind his back and sticking his chin and chest out as far as he can with a stupid shoulder swagger as he greets everyone and nonces around the place. If they got rid of him I think it’d deserve four stars. Lad needs to get back to ganging in Manchester or learn how to behave in the service industry. Grow up and stop calling patrons ‘mate’ and use sir or nothing at all. Learn some humility in the presence of your guests. The other chap was charming and clearly knows better. Don’t understand why they don’t tell him, or get rid of him. Sorry guys, I know it’s not your best review and you have done really well setting it up, but that’s my feel. We booked a table for the 4 of us and Luna (our Dog) and we had a fantastic time! The Team are Super Friendly and very enthusiastic about the place & the dishes on offer. We ordered a variety of dishes and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Mrs K is a veggie so we ordered the Veggie Mezze to share and the variety of food was absolutely beautiful. The cheeses were lovely and the chutney, houmous and small dishes were great! My Mother & Father in Law ordered Salt & Pepper Wings, Haloumi Fries, Pigs in Blankets with Bloody Mary sauce and crispy skinny fries with aioli I tried all the dishes and they were amazing! The best Haloumi Fries we have enjoyed. The amount of food we ordered was a perfect amount and we all had just the right amount of food. Mrs K & her Mum had a lovely bottle of Pinot Grigio Blush and we had a couple of pints. The view from the Lanty Slee is absolutely stunning and altogether we had such a perfect time.
