My husband and I had 4 nights in a twin bedded ensuite room with a shower. The room was clean on arrival and had a kettle, small hanging space for clothes plus USB points for charging electronic devices. We had our own private space outside with wooden decking and a bench and 2 chairs to sit on. There were also 2 fold up chairs in our room which could be used in the room or taken outside. There is a shared kitchen with 2 kettles, 2 microwaves, an oven and a toaster plus plenty of crockery and cutlery. There is plenty of seating to eat your breakfast or meals in the kitchen plus a TV too. The kitchen we found was a very sociable space as other holiday makers were happy to chat with you and quite a few we met had stayed at the Lodge before. The Lodge has a freezer full of home made meals made by them which are very reasonably priced and can be cooked in the microwave from frozen. We had their chicken and mango curry one day and a lamb hot pot on another. Both of these meals were excellent and good sized portions. You can also buy other items at the Lodge in the reception area such as cereal, jam, milk, chocolate, teabags, coffee etc. There is also a cafe at the Lodge which is open during the day from 10am - 4pm. There is a small laundry room too should you wish to do any washing. The staff who work at the hostel and cafe are very friendly and helpful if you have any queries. We would definitely...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Longstone Lodge. The rooms are simple and clean with well-functioning bathrooms. Beds are comfortable. It was convenient having a mini-frig and hot pot in our room. We enjoyed sitting on our deck in the late afternoon after a busy day of exploring. The shared kitchen works well for breakfast and was never too busy or crowded, and a good place to sit for a meal. There is a good assortment of groceries available at reception if you haven’t had the opportunity to stop at the grocery store on the way in (breakfast foods and even some homemade shepherd’s pie, chili, veg chili, etc. to microwave, and wine and beer). The kitchen is well organized with a bin for food storage for each room and supplies are available to label food stored in the refrigerator and freezer. The cafe serves delicious lunches, snacks and amazing cakes from about 10 to 4 PM. The lodge is a 20-25 min walk from town and if you don’t feel like walking and time it right, there’s a community bus that stops near the lodge entrance, or taxis for hire. The staff were absolutely delightful, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Finally, the grounds are lovely with a nice play area for children and families, and a large garden, tended by volunteers, with many benches to rest and relax. We would happily return to...

Stepping in is like finding a warm hug on a chilly day. The aroma of freshly ground beans hits you instantly, a comforting prelude to the excellent coffee they serve. The baristas are genuinely friendly, not just going through the motions, but taking the time to chat and remember your order. It's that personal touch that sets them apart. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of lively buzz and quiet corners, making it ideal whether you're catching up with friends, getting some work done, or simply enjoying a solitary moment. Their pastries and cakes are always fresh, and they often feature local bakers, which is a lovely touch. The quality of the coffee itself is consistently high, from their expertly crafted lattes to their rich, robust espressos. More than just a place to grab a caffeine fix, [Coffee Shop Name] is a community hub, a place where you feel welcome and valued. It's a true local gem. Edit- I really loved it

If I could give this place 6 stars on service, I absolutely would. The lodge is lovely. Clean, great location, lots of facilities including a great kitchen set up, private balconies, an honesty shop and a cafe. But the people are stellar. Everyone I spoke to was a delight, and you could see how much they loved their place in how they were dancing in the kitchen when no one was watching. They were super helpful and got me breakfast before the cafe had opened and even got their electrician to take my phone (which I had foolishly forgotten) down into Hugh Town to me so I wouldn't miss the boat. I booked this place last minute as all the Hugh Town places were booked, but I completely lucked out and 💯 would base myself here for future trips. Thank you so much 💓 And did I mention the cake! ....... I didn't take many photos of the lodge so some are just the beautiful islands and the dark sky

2024 Visit: I visited the Scilly isles for the second time 10th-24th July. We visited longstone easily 7 times, maybe more. I finally tried every cake on offer + the cream tea. The coconut and lime cake was divine! and the scones are so big and tasty! We tried a lunch here this time, a tasty chorizo toastie. Longstone is my new favourite cafe for everything on the island, not just cake! and again, the service was brilliant. Served by a lovely young lady on most visits who was always so smiley and bubbly. 2022 visit: Best cakes on the island by far! We went to Longstone cafe 5 times during our 2 week stay. We only ever had coffee and cake each time, because we simply couldn't get enough! Tried almost every cake they have to offer and they were all delicious! (coffee and walnut being my favourite) and the coffee is lovely. Great staff & lovely area. Will definitely be coming back.
