Nestled in the heart of Marston Moretaine, Lounge India is a hidden gem for lovers of Indian cuisine. The aroma of spices wafting through the air promises an authentic and unforgettable dining experience.
The menu boasts an extensive variety of curries, each crafted with a unique blend of spices that showcases the rich culinary heritage of India. I started my meal with the classic Chicken Jalfrezi, a dish that did not disappoint. The chicken was tender and juicy, bathed in a rich tomato-based sauce with just the right balance of sweetness and spice. The rich, velvety texture of the curry paired perfectly with the fluffy garlic naan, making each bite a delightful symphony of flavors.
Next, I ventured into the Lamb Rogan Josh, a traditional curry. The lamb was cooked to perfection, tender and succulent, absorbing the deep, aromatic flavors of the sauce. The blend of cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves created a fragrant and hearty dish that was both comforting and sophisticated.
The vegetarian options were equally impressive. The Saag Paneer stood out with its perfectly grilled cubes of paneer simmered in a tangy, spiced tomato sauce. The freshness of the ingredients was evident, and the complexity of the spices made this a standout dish for both vegetarians and meat lovers alike.
I cannot review Lounge India without mentioning the Biryani. The Chicken Biryani was a highlight of the meal, with long-grain basmati rice cooked to perfection, infused with saffron, and layered with tender pieces of chicken. The dish was aromatic, with each mouthful revealing layers of flavor that left me craving more.
The service at Lounge India was impeccable. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and eager to guide us through the menu, making recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. Their passion for the cuisine was evident, adding a personal touch that made the meal even more enjoyable.
In conclusion, Lounge India is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Indian curry experience. The meticulous attention to detail, the quality of the ingredients, and the mastery of spice blending make this restaurant a standout in the culinary landscape. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado of Indian cuisine or a curious first-timer, Lounge India promises a meal that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you yearning for...
Read moreWas honestly expecting a pretty standard dinner but it was far from it; I cannot fault a single thing! The chicken chaat and puree, lamb jalfrezi and especially the lamb shatkari were so delicious! Usually the special dishes for me are over described but in the shatkari they stuck to their word; it was a rich, fragrant curry with little caramelised bits of lemon in it. Would have it again and again. Sides were also lovely. We had peshwari naan, keema rice, saag paneer and bombay aloo.
The ambience in the restaurant was nice and comfortable. The only thing I would perhaps fault is the staff. Following this visit, I was unhappy when my partner and I were asked to put my leftovers into containers ourselves as it was a bit of a mood killer if I'm being honest! The staff took a very long time to serve us for each course and at the end of the meal, I had to get their attention on the way out of the restaurant in order to pay the bill. I would have ordered dessert if I could actually get their attention; I figured I may as well go to the co-op instead. The staff were very uninterested and at some points more focused on taking telephone orders than actually sitting people down. I witnessed a man with his pregnant partner who were told to wait to be seated, even though there were tables available. Customer service certainly needs...

We were seated and asked if we'd like poppadoms (standard) after saying no thanks were told it would be better for thier washing up anyway I was then told I could do the washing up if I wanted which I assume was meant to be a joke? I wouldn't of thought twice about this ordinarily however, the way the rest of the evening panned out does make me wonder if they were being serious.
When our food arrived the waiter leant over us and dropped our plates very heavy handedly. I was handed my food on a scolding hot plate while the waiter was holding it on his end using a towel I almost dropped my plate spilling rice everywhere, I then had to ask my main to be placed near me and not handed to me which I assumed was a given to begin with. The food was good and we had the correct order. But When we asked for tap water which, when eventually arrived was slung at us In a jug, we were only given two glasses ( there were 5 of us) we had to use our old pint classes to have any water. When it was time to pay, there was this horrible atmosphere as if we were putting them out by taking our money! The card machine was wrenched from our hands immediately after our pin was entered and when we all paid not even a thank you...
