We chose this place based on other reviews, accepting that the restaurant is very small and intimate. What the reviews didn’t warn us about is that the place would be almost entirely filled with punters ordering, waiting for or collecting take aways. As a result of the continuous coming and going any atmosphere that might otherwise exist is throttled at birth and the dining experience as a whole is quite unpleasant. This side of the business is clearly prioritised to the detriment of the restaurant, demonstrated by the fact that as we waited to order, a series of people walked in and placed take away orders ahead of ourselves and another couple, being the entire restaurant clientele, who were already sitting at tables with menus choices made. After 25 minutes I’d had enough and pushed in front of the latest take away punter to tell the waiter we were still waiting to order. When, eventually, our orders were taken there was none of the supposedly friendly welcome and no apology for the lack of attention. In fact service as a whole was pretty indifferent, to the extent that I really can’t see why they bother to operate as a restaurant at all. On the plus side the food, when it came, was pretty good but sadly that didn’t make up for the abysmal service experience and is not likely to...
Read moreWent here last night the the staff gave us no time to order and wouldn’t leave us to look through the menu thoroughly. Most of us got pressurised in to ordering the most expensive dish which was over £16 and it was sooooo disappointing. A plate came out with 6 very small pots with different food but the meat was dry the curry had no flavour and it wasn’t hot. The curry looked and tasted terrible, a Tesco microwave meal would have been a million times better and and I was still hungry after the meal, although I left one of the pots because it tasted wrong. I’m annoyed at myself for not complaining at the time. We had to wait 30 minutes after getting the bill for the. To take out money so we all got up and went to the bar to pay as we were fed up of waiting. I used to go here all the time about 10 years ago but haven't because the food didn’t impress me the last time I went but now the place has been written...
Read moreReally didn't enjoy this restaurant. Samosa's looked and tasted like they were frozen and bought from Iceland. The house white was absolutely disgusting and the lemonade was flat. The main meal was not to bad all though my wife who loves hot spicy food nearly burnt her mouth on a hot chilli which was in her jalfrazi. The best part of the meal was the nan bread. We are spoilt with Indian cuisine as we live in Birmingham and this restaurant would be out of business if it was located there such a shame as we will be visiting Winslow regularly now...
