This is a restaurant run by fraud people and I do not recommend to any.First of all it's not Indian and it's purely Bangladeshi. We visited one night for dinner and we loved the food served by them. But was surprised to get the bill for 36£,infact no bill just they came up with the machine to swipe after telling us the money we need to pay.On the way back home, however way I calculated I couldn't reach 36£ for the vegetarian food and my hubby consoled me saying they would have taken service charge. In between they asked us whether we ordered for another J2O to which we said no also.So there could be a probability that they had taken the price of two J2O instead of one.We soon forgot that incident and thought it might be our way of thinking and the calculation which we are doing is wrong as we don't remember the exact price of items we ordered and we couldn't get the price from the menu listed in their website also. After 2 months,we again visited the same place and this time,I took care to note down the price of each item before ordering. When we asked for bill, again they came with the swipe machine and when we insisted they provided us with a bill(attached bill.jpg)Main food items which we ordered were clearly written whereas three items looked very unclear and when we asked for explanation, they said 6£ for 3 papads and when we questioned that it was 1£ each, they said 1£ each for the three tubs of pickles which they gave with the papads. We were surprised as mostly papads are free or at the most 50 p in most of the restaurants and its the first time, someone is charging us for the pickles given in tiny pots. J2O cost is 3.5£ and 4.15 £ (10% of total bill, which is horrible in such a crowded restaurant)as service charge.I quickly calculated the bill and found there was calculation mistake and they took 2.5£ extra. When I pointed out, they looked as if they have purposely miscalculated and said sorry. When I took the bill with me they asked us back, and I said bill is for customers,so I will keep it with me and they were not at all happy with my remark. While leaving,I took their menu card with me and calculated the bill of our earlier visit and found that they had cheated 2.5£ back then also.We are Indians, but we found only elderly white men and women dining there. We are wondering how much they cheat those people. Utter Frauds..please stay away from...

We had our Christmas eve dinner here with friends. We had booked a separate room and had one of the banquet meals. The service was rude and inattentive. I asked to see the menu to see what I was being served (I'm pregnant and lactose intolerant, as well as a few other things) and the waiter just laughed and said it'll be ok. But still didnt bring the menu or say what was being served. Just that it was 'all tolerant'. We ordered our drinks but also asked asked for a jug of water - which we were refused. He brought a bottle of water. When that finished, my friend insisted on a jug of water, which we got one of (and this was never replenished.) They were only interested in getting us out as soon as possible- didn't offer desserts. Despite the banquet menu including this. They came around with the card machine - but no bill/receipt. Just stated it was £55 per person, and expected us to pay up. The food quality itself was just average- bland ..what you'd expect from a watered-down 'Asian' meal. There was no authenticity. Definitely wouldn't have pinned it to Indian cuisine. (I've actually made better at home from pre-packed pouches!) I just didn't think all that was worth the hefty £55 bill we each paid! Will not be returning, so...

Full disclosure: Attended on 4th November 2020 (last day of opening before Lockdown 2.0) Booked one week ahead.

Definitely a local favourite. The food was phenomenal; one of the richest jalfrezi's I've had in a long time with generous portion sizes and not overwhelmingly spicy. Crispy, fresh naans. Will definitely be returning for takeaway orders! Prices are reflective of the standard of food received, for sure.

I was, even in spite of the circumstances, disappointed with the service I received in person. We had reserved well in advance, yet on arrival we were shunned by the owner, who chose to seat a couple who arrived after us despite us both having reservations (what happened to first come, first serve?). We waited for 15 mins before being shown to a table, then waited another 10-15 mins before we were brought a menu or water/offered a drinks order. I get that the restaurant was busy, but waiting nearly half an hour over our reservation before receiving a menu is a bit excessive. Very fortunately, the food was...

We had an incredibly frustrating experience at Malik’s Cookham. After our meal where we had our client and our team with us. Post dinner, we politely requested a VAT bill, but instead of receiving a proper receipt, the owner handed us a handwritten note on a blank piece of paper. When we questioned this, his response was shocking—he became extremely rude and abusive. Rather than addressing our concerns professionally, he started yelling at us and insulting us. It was not only unprofessional but completely disrespectful. It’s clear that the owner has no regard for customer service or basic decency. I will never return and strongly advise others to avoid this place at all costs.

One of the fine dinning restaurants and Bar in Cookham. Good quality and tasty food items. The restaurant is British style with Indian food items. The served quantity also were plenty. The ambience is very neat with round tables, enough for a family of 5 to 6 members. The service is also very polite and quick. Car parking is also available adjacent to hotel. Overall it was a nice experience of dinning.
