Manzo Bishop Auckland — Restaurant in England

Worst management skills I've ever come across in the restaurant business. Table for 10 booked in for 7:30pm, got seated straight away and ordered 1st round of drinks, placed food order approximately 7:50pm, food was not served until 9:05pm. After the meals were being brought to our table the waitress came back over realising that one customer had no food, she apologised and said sorry yours will be out in 2 minutes. A few minutes later she came back to the table with a garlic bread and placed that in front of him, he explained that was not his main meal that was just a side for people to share. Again she apologised and went back to the kitchen, when she returned she said sorry your order has not been cooked would you like the chef to start it now, as most of the other people on the table had finished there meals he said no just make sure its not on the bill. One of our group was drunk and getting loud about the fact 1 of our friends had not had any food whatsoever the waitress who looked only maybe 18 was left to try and sort the situation out for close to 10 minutes while the manager or maybe owner stayed well away from us and never came over to apologise until one of our party went over to him and asked him to come to our table and sort the problem out. His solution was to cook him his £25 steak and he could take it away in a pizza box, all it would have taken is if the manager had came straight over to our table and offered to make things right instead of hiding at the other side of the restaurant and leaving a very young waitress to deal with it, disgusting behaviour for a so called manager. So i have now dined at Manzo’s 4 times over the last roughly 4 months so i think i have a pretty good idea of what it’s like.

So food wise has been different every time sadly not sure quite how they managed this the menu hasn’t changed but chef turnover may have ?? any way we have ordered the same dishes roughly between 4 of us and each time has been quite different and sadly i’d say gradually gotten worse.

The food is average at a push if am honest and is very expensive for what you get there are far better local Italian restaurants for the money.

On one occasion we had to wait 90 minutes for our food and then 3 of our orders were wrong in some fashion we were offered replacements but due to the wait times we just ate what came how ever after a few words with the bar manger we did get free drinks at a push.

The drinks menu is also very poor if you like cocktails and badly made expensive ones at that again unfortunately.

saying It’s a nice place to eat the decor is very nice and so is the atmosphere as long as you can get a normal height table….half the tables in the restaurant are high chairs ?? very unusual and uncomfortable quite a questionable choice given the variety of people that dine there.

Over all is say try it for yourself but in my experience for the money sadly it’s just no we’re near as nice as...

Can only assume the good reviews are friends of the restaurant. What we experienced was horrendous. Management had no idea where people were sitting so were moving everyone around. We waited 10 minutes before we even had a drink menu, once ordered we had to wait an hour and a half for the food, at no point did anyone come over to get more drinks. The food when delivered was average, presented well, very small portions, not hot but Luke warm. They haven't even changed the old pub layout, just painted it and stuck a few tables in. Absolutely horrendous experience, we tried it. Chalked down as bad experience, will never go there again. Terrible.
