arrived at martins at 19.00pm on Fri evening. The place was very busy but we found a table in one of the rear rooms where the fire engine is. There was 1 queue for both food and drink but placed order after about 10 minutes. We were advised there was an hour delay for food but accepted this and ordered some drinks. We visited the bar for further drinks and were advised food was on schedule. We started to get alarmed when no one in our room were getting any food. At 20.30 I purchased further drinks and was assured the food wouldn’t be too much longer. At 21.15 I went to ask what was happening and was told it was busy and food would be 10 minutes more. I asked if the waitress could clarify with the chef as my son is autistic and had waited over 2 hours for his food. The waitress came back and then said it would be at least another 20 minutes! At this point I was offered a refund for the food so I accepted as the evening had already been spoilt and after all the false promises I couldn’t take the chance it would be longer. I requested to see the manager who I was told was James cox by the waitress. She disappeared and came back saying he had 7 more meals to prepare and would come out after. I reminded her that we had waited over 2 hours already so she went again to the kitchen. She then came back and said he would see me after finishing the current order. After another 15 minutes there was no sign of the manager! We stayed at the site for 3 nights and this night turned out to be a complete waste of time and stress to my family especially my autistic son. I have never been to a restaurant and waited over 2 hours for service however busy the place is. The waitress was doing her job and was polite but I believe she was totally let down by the manager. By the time we left there were a further 3 people who had waited the same amount of time as us requesting answers but they didn’t receive a response either. Its such a shame as we loved the site for our touring caravan and the staff were so friendly but this place totally lets this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Martin's Bar and Restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere that made me feel instantly comfortable.
The interior of the restaurant was tastefully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance. The dim lighting and soft music playing in the background set the perfect mood for a relaxing evening. The seating arrangements were well-spaced, allowing for privacy while still maintaining a sense of camaraderie.
The menu at Martin's Bar and Restaurant is small but offers enough to cater for most tastes.
The service at Martin's was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. They were more than happy to recommend dishes and provide detailed explanations of the ingredients and cooking techniques used. The waiting time for the food was reasonable, and each course was served with precision and care.
The bar at Martin's also deserves a special mention. The bartender was skilled and concocted some fantastic cocktails. I tried their signature Pint of Korev, and it was expertly poured with just the right balance of head. The extensive wine list offered a great selection to complement the food.
Overall, my visit to Martin's Bar and Restaurant was a delightful culinary journey. The combination of delectable food, welcoming ambiance, and top-notch service made it an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience...
Read moreVery disappointing. At first it looked promising. Lovely and clean with a huge amount of Fire Service memorabilia (including 2 actual Fire engines!). Sadly it went down hill very quickly. Our group had booked a table for the Sunday Carvery. 6 Adults, 4 children and a baby. After being seated the children saw the soft play area (great we all thought) but you have to pay £3.50 per child per hour to use it! Seriously? I pay less to visit a full size soft play area. It is small and certainly didn't expect to pay more to use the facilities?? We ordered drinks which were very overpriced. 1 pint Lemonade, 1 bottle of Coke and 2 small apple juice cartons for £8.60! The Carvery itself was nothing to write home about either at £11.95 (standard plate) or £15.00 (large plate)...Small meat portions and not particularly well cooked veg/pots/sides etc. As for the children who opted for the very limited menu (2 things): One, 6 chicken nuggets and few chips, sadly the promised peas never arrived, even after asking staff twice. Second was a poor attempt at Spaghetti Bolognese...A plate of overcooked spaghetti and a dollop of sauce: all for £5.95! Seriously you need to rethink your pricing! The carvery service is too small and only allows 4 people at a time to get food so it leads to a long queue and wait for food. Staff were not overly helpful at all. Overall a waste of £50 and will never return and certainly not recommend unless things change! If the owner took as much effort with staff/food as they do with the Fire Service memorabilia it might be amazing....
