Heard this place was good. Wish I never went there, went for a family meal.last night, 25 of us , and they could not cope with a large booking , all.i can say is disgusting and that's being polite. After waiting for 45 mins for the 1st course, his what happens, yeah that's right, turns up cold, and the same with the main, it all got sent back, and guess what happens next, correct turns up cold again, never again Mela, next time we will go back to our old Indian which is 10 times better, the Kashmir Garden Aylesbury. This place Mela is under staffed, food is cold, and can't cope with a large booking. It also gave me mild food poisoning, and some of the other members of the group suffered as well. If people think this is a good Indian restaurant, then all I can say is they no little about this type of cuisine.. Please try Kashmir Garden, they do a fantastic Gourmet night on Thursday evenings, 5 dishes for £10.99. Much better than this pretentious Mela. We will never go to this place again.Awful is to kind to describe. If i could give it a minus star, then this would...

Yes it is about the food, which was exquisite, but also the service and the "vibe". Mela has this in spades, which makes the place joyful.
Mustn't forget the food. I chose to start with some chicken tikka. It was moist and delicious, with great attention to detail - the side salad was dressed and interesting and I finished it all as it was so good! My main was the Mela "Special" Massala with chicken, rich, creamy, quite sweet, and served in a lovely copper bucket, and was absolutely amazing.

Read moreThis is a lovely restaurant and I could not fault the service, the staff were all very attentive and took on board customer requests. The food itself was clearly freshly prepared as it was made with our requests in mind - most Indian restaurants will prepare the sauces in advance so spice levels etc cannot be changed however Mela clearly pride themselves on making everything to order. The only thing letting the food down was the flavour and it was evident that it must come from the heat/chilli as we asked for all food to be made mild. It was edible but unfortunately rather bland and missing a lot of the spices that add flavour rather than heat. Being Indian myself I may have unknowingly had higher expectations but I believe the flavours have been muted down and this really has the potential to be 5 stars if they give the food a little more oomph without compromising...
