Mortimer Café — Restaurant in England

Generally good service but ask for a runny egg each time, always recieve over cooked eggs and normally just eat the hard eggs. today though, I desperately wanted a runny egg, an eggcellent egg, I asked for a runny egg, which you would assume a cafe is capable of making. To my dismay I was given an over cooked egg and this time asked for it to be re done and for a runny egg to be delivered as promised. I was bought a new bap over by the manager with an under cooked egg,that was mainly clear goo. It looked as if they’d thrown it onto the cooker and scooped it out instantly. Terrible egg. I said that this was unacceptable and was given an abusive response in return and told my eggpectations were eggaggerated and they couldn’t deliver a runny egg as asked for. Try and visit Mortimer cafe once a month for a good and well priced fry up!

Though was a little disappointed this morning with my visit! Without sounding like too much of a Karen. I pre ordered my breakfast as I stopped in on my dog walk and wanted a in quick and out. Pre - ordered over phone, it was pretty much ready for when I got there- perfect! Tasted good as always etc…

However I to paid £15 for a fry up and drink? I questioned it and the guy said as I chosen the items myself rather than going for a set choice it was more expensive? So I could’ve of had more food (and wasted it) had I chosen a set meal and saved myself a few quid?!

Doesn’t make sense nor seem fair to me.

Anyway, I am sounding like a Karen now, lol.

Will visit again but think that’s confusing...

There is plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside with parking available at the rear.

Very fast service and fresh good food. We had a veggie breakfast, tuna salad, feta salad and a portion of chips. All well presented though the feta salad could have done with some olives and dressing but fresh and tasty. The menu offers all day breakfasts, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, salads, veggie burger, etc so a good range.

It would have been nice to see more options like yogurt and fruit pots.
