I'm not sure what's happened to this restaurant but I had the worst curry I've ever had last night. The staff remain lovely and familiar faces, but the food was so bland, whilst being expensive. I tried Shahi Botha but could not taste ANYTHING, despite claiming to be medium spicy. My partner was worried my taste buds had gone, but agreed once he'd tasted it. Absolutely no flavour. I'm not sure how that's achieved. When the waiter asked if everything was ok, I said it wasn't and that my curry had no flavour. He looked perplexed and walked away. Despite being a regular since it opened many years ago, that'll be my last visit.

Food was incredible! We impulse came here passing through the area. The staff were really helpful, a lady came with recommendations. She knew her flavours for sure. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. Compliments to chef, the food was piping hot and the naans were fresh and fluffy. Garlic of course. You have to try the coconut ice cream!

Happened upon the Mowchak while driving up the M40, looking for an evening meal not far off our route. This was a pure delight. So good. Great tasty fresh food. Friendly welcoming team. We will be back.

I had heard great things about this restaurant and was really looking forward to my meal. I was extremely disappointed, however. I ordered a butter chicken and I was served plain chicken in a bright yellow smooth korma sauce. I have eaten butter chicken at many resturants before but never like this. The staff insisted the dish was authentic, which it may well be, and they were happy to replace it. My replacement was plain chicken again but this time in an unnaturally bright red plain sauce which tasted exactly the same; sweet and coconut flavour. I was finally brought a chicken curry, which was ok but it sorely lacked flavour. I tried my fellow diner's food between waiting for mine and every dish was bland and lacked flavour. All of our food was delivered luke warm but due to the rigmarole with my food we didn't have the heart to complain about that too, nor the fact that the portions were small. Despite there being a lot of staff around we also had to chase them for drink refills. Never...

was not expecting much.. and I wasn't disappointed..For what it was it was quite expensive..The children's prices being especially so..We were the only people there which was no surprise.. The selection was poor and limited..each meat dish of which there were two were guilty of false advertising.. The lamb must have bailed from the spinach swill and the chickenless tikka could have doubled as custard it was so sweet..There was not one spicy dish.. Which would have suited the kids had they decided that they would stick to the Nan and rice..This is quite the worse curry I have had...ever..one star for good service they agreed to move us to a larger table when friends arrived..but as mentioned we were the only ones there..To be honest the service would have been better if they had warned us...

I'd heard about Mowchak over the years but never visited, until tonight... and now I wonder why I didn't do it sooner!! Fresh, quality produce, cooked to perfection, and no heavy oils to weigh you down after the meal. The Salmon Tikka was tasty and flaked easily, the mushroom rice was the nicest I've had. The Saag Panir had more garlic than usual, but it made the dish so much nicer, and the Chicken Korma had lovely white chunks of tender chicken in a well balanced sauce that tasted as it should and wasn't too sweet, like some can be. The dessert menu looked varied, but we didn't have the room for it, so maybe next time! If you haven't been, then what are you waiting...
